Hi All! I have arrived and all went smoothly with DTV application and immigration. I have moved the required funds into a savings account (which is a different bank to my original application account). Can I use this new account when I go to get my 180 day visa stamp over here ?

OR does it need to be same bank as original bank statements given ?

Thanks for any clarification 😊🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original post inquires whether it's acceptable to use a different bank account for proof of funds when applying for a 180-day visa stamp in Thailand after having initially applied with another account. Responses indicate that while it's generally acceptable to use a different bank account to show proof of funds for an extension, many recommend opting for a border bounce instead of an in-country extension to avoid complications. This path typically does not require proof of funds. Therefore, transitioning funds to another savings account for the visa application should not pose an issue.

Thanks for all comments- so doing a boarder hop is my best option ? Appreciate the advice .

The woman in one of the visa offices said I would need all documents updated .

So boarder hop it is . For ease and a little adventure.😊🙏🏼

If you’re applying for an extension at immigration, they’ll ask you to show proof of funds in any bank account as for the application (the account can be different). If you’re doing a border exit and re-entry, there’s no such check at the moment.

Most will just choose the second option.

There's no requirement to keep your funds in the same bank account which you used when you applied for the DTV visa.

Note the overwhelming advice from many to 🚫 not seek to obtain a 180 day extension inside Thailand.

Simply do land, air or sea border bounce to get a new 180 day stamp.

I am not sure what you are asking... are you referring to the initial entry to Thailand or asking about a 180 day extension after you have already been in Thailand for the first 180 days?

To get the initial 180 day stamp there isn't normally a requirement to show funds again when you enter.

Most people do a border bounce rather than trying to get an extension. Much easier

Most people do a border bounce to get a new 180 day stamp, will not be questioned about funds bouncing in and out of the country. It is possible to do an in-country extension but not recommended and in that case you would have to update and resupply basically all the paperwork from the original application and depending on the office you use the money would have to be in a Thai Bank
