Can I reset my DTV visa with a land border run to Laos, or is flying a better option?

Hey, can I reset my DTV 6 months with a land border run to Laos or something?

I normally fly to Vietnam but wasn’t sure if there was a better way to do it faster

What’s your best recommendation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Options for resetting the DTV visa include land border runs to Laos or flights. However, recent reports indicate that new immigration rules may restrict returning via land borders. Some users suggest that flying is safer to avoid complications, and experiences vary by individual. It's advisable to check with official sources or expat groups for the latest regulations and to ensure all paperwork is in order.

It's about the same price to fly to Malaysia/Vietnam than do a border run

Maybe there is a misunderstanding about the DTV visa. It’s a tourist visa and the new laws clearly saying that border runs aren’t a good idea, in case you try to live in Thailand - this is what the immigration wants to avoid. DTV or not. There is a great group Visa Thailand, which translated the immigration law pretty good. Read by yourself and take the steps, which you think are best for you. 🙏❤️

Id use the airport but any time you leave and come back it resets the 180 day stay up to 5 years - if im not mistaken its best to wait a few days before returning

I crossed in Malaysia a few months ago with one of the companies that do land crossing. It was very well organized and easy. I’m not sure if things will be tighter since the new visa restrictions are being talked about. I would just make sure to have paperwork in order just incase.

I previously crossed at the Laos border, and the officers told me to use a flight next time. They asked me many questions and even shouted at me.

Yes I have DTV with Workcation category.

Honestly, I don't know why he shout at me tho. May be because I hold Myanmar passport or may be he wanted me to use flight for next time 🤷

I just forget everything happen at immigration and enjoy beautiful Thailand.

🙂

I went to laos last week with my dtv and at the border they told me that due to new rules I can come back only flying so I flew back from laos to bkk.

I showed him my dtv but he still said new rules -maybe he didn't understand me but I didn't want to take chances with the situation.
