I just renewed my passport but my old passport has my visa stamp. I was given a letter to transfer the visa stamp to the new passport.
Is it compulsory to transfer the retirement visa stamp or can I show the Thai immigration the 2 passports when I next come into Thailand ?
If it is compulsory- how much time do I have to go down cheangwattana to do this ?
Really no time for this if itβs not compulsory.
Thank you for your comments.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the necessity of transferring their retirement visa stamp from an old passport to a new one. They have received a letter suggesting the transfer but are unsure if it is mandatory or if they can present both passports to Thai immigration. Community comments indicate that it is a requirement to transfer the visa to avoid future complications, as visas in expired passports are not valid. The user ultimately decided to hire an agent to handle the transfer.

Are you actually on a Visa or an Extension of Stay stamp? You only transfer Extension of Stay stamps, you're Visa stays.

Just go to CW and do it, doesn't take long at all. It's a requirement of immigration and you may invite headaches in the future by not doing it. A visa in an expired passport is worthless because they only last as long as the passports expiry date legally.

On top of that if you're on a retirement extension, you won't be able to get a re entry permit or be able to do a 90 day report until you do . Especially if you have a new passport number .
