Do I need to transfer my visa stamps to my new passport before traveling out of Thailand?

I received my 90 day non O, and one year extension (retirement), and multi entry stamp, 60 days ago. But my passport was full after all the stamps. So I sent off for a replacement passport, that I have just received back, with the old passport too. I have an international flight out, in early April, and back to BKK in late April.

Do I need to go to immigration and get the stamps transferred over to my new passport, before my flight out?

Or possibly it’s something that can be done at BKK airport immigration, upon my return flight?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is advised to transfer visa stamps from an old passport to a new passport at the local immigration office before traveling. The stamps cannot be transferred at the airport, and travel with both passports is not recommended due to potential complications.

Looking at the timescales mentioned, 60 days ago and late April, i believe there is a 90 day report due before you travel. You must have the stamps moved (as Ellie mentioned in option1), before you can do that, and have registered a new TM30 against the new passport no first. Do the stamp move and then the 90 day report in one visit (2 ques).

My departure is in early April, so it’s within the first 90 days of my Non-O. And please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t departing the country on an international flight, and then returning, nullify the date of the first 90 day check in, and then move it to 90 days from the date, you arrive back in Thailand?

GO to the immigration office where you got your extension and GET THE STAMPS MOVED before you fly out

yes, i stand corrected, i thought i read late April. You will have 90 days from when you return to get the stamps moved.

No, nothing can be done at the airport for switching your passports either on departure or arrival. You have to go to the immigration office anyway to transfer stamps, sooner or later.

1. The best is to go to the local immigration office that issued your extension and re-entry permit to transfer stamps to the new passport before you travel. Then you don't have to bring both passports around.

2. Alternatively, you go travel with both passports, showing your old passport to get the departure and entry stamps on your new passport at passport control on the Thailand side. Then go to the immigration office to apply for transfer stamps properly after you are back to Thailand. (Not sure if you would be asked at passport control/immigration office why you haven't transferred stamps before you leave or not.)

In this case, make sure you are stamped until the same date as your extension with Non-RE category on your arrival to Thailand, not a 30-day stamp, etc.
