Just spent 5 plus hours at CW to transfer extension stamps into new passport .Heads up I was asked for my updated bank book.This is not mentioned anywhere and not on the back of the transfer form.I was asked to go back with it.Wonderful.So always take more than is " officially required".The lady also said I could leave and re-enter Thailand with my old passport which shows my retirement extension stamp and my new passport which has no stamps if I didnt do the transfer into the new passport .If this is the case would I be given 90 days on re entering ? Thanks .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently experienced a lengthy process at Chaengwattana Immigration to transfer extension stamps from an old passport to a new one. They were unexpectedly asked for an updated bank book, which is not indicated in the official requirements. They inquire about the possibility of re-entering Thailand with both the old passport (which holds the extension stamp) and the new passport without the stamp, and whether this would result in a 90-day stay upon re-entry. Community comments provide additional insights into the transfer process and the potential complexities involved.

This post was about transferring the stamps to a new passport in BANGKOK at Chaengwattana using banked money method and the need to show an updated bank book.

We wish the O/P good luck, we are done. . ..

Thanks Tod.no re entry permit in the old passport .I just normally do it at the airport when I leave which has only been a few times the last few years for obvious reasons.I wonder could I get a single entry when I leave for a short trip soon if I don't transfer the stamps and then move the stamps when I do new yearly extension on April 11 th to avoid having to keep going to CW.

I wouldn't do it, but I'm not you. They wouldn't put the re-entry permit into the old passport seeing as it's cancelled now, and I have no idea how it'd work.

I'd say just tough it out, get out there early, update the bank book downstairs, go up and wait it out to get the stamps moved AND buy a re-entry permit while you're there

Is it possible to make a online appointment to do the transfer to new passport? If so which option to choose?

@Igor *******
nope, no option to make an appointment for transfer of stamps. It's a suck it up and wait it out sort of thing.

Sadly, you are correct, that bit of information is not on the back of the "transfer stamp" form ๐Ÿ˜•

If you use banked money method for a retirement extension at Chaengwattana they have been asking for an updated bank book now for a while to move the stamps.

It's so they can check and see if you're following the seasoning terms you agreed to when you got the extension last time ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Just curious, do you have a re-entry permit in the old passport and did you go over to counter C-2 <-(the re-entry permit counter) to get that moved from your old passport to the new one?

Take what that lady said with a grain of salt, she's NOT working passport control at the airport stamping people out of thailand ๐Ÿ˜‰ She's a passport stamping, paper pushing gov't employee that GIVES extensions and moves stamps ๐Ÿ˜›

If you're on an extension and get a passport inside the country, the rule is you get the stamps moved to the new passport BEFORE you exit the country. Now could you show up with out having done it and stamp out on the new passport? Yes, BUT they won't move the extension to the new one. As far as how long you'd get stamped in for, that would hinge on your having a re-entry permit and you'd get stamped in for as long as your current extension was valid for from the old passport

You'd still need to go to the immigration office after you came back in to get the extension moved, they just don't do that at the airport.
