What should I know about transferring my visa stamp to a new passport when returning to Thailand?

Good afternoon, everyone! I seriously need your advice or expertise on particular subject: Visa Stamp Transfer! I’m flying back home this Christmas, and wanted to get a new passport since I’ve got only 2 available pages left in it! Embassy of my country here in Bangkok takes 9-10 months for getting a new passport! Back home is a couple of days! I know, it does sound ridiculous! So I’m going to take my WP and all the documents ( contract with company, etc.,), get a re-entry, since my visa expires in May 2018! Here’s the question: Upon arrival to Bangkok, will i need to show another proof, or funds sufficiency? Will i get any trouble if i show my old passport (with re- entry in it) and a new one? I’ve never faced this sort of issue, and desperately need your advice! Thanks to everyone, in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on transferring their visa stamp to a new passport while returning to Thailand. They are concerned about the process involved after obtaining a new passport due to limited pages in their current one and the lengthy processing time at their embassy in Bangkok. The community provides reassurance that showing both the old passport with the re-entry permit and the new passport upon arrival should not pose any problems, as immigration will stamp the new passport with the same expiry date as the extension of stay.

You have an extension, NOT a visa. It should be transferred when you re-enter. Your 90 day report will be your day of entry + 89 days.

So what's the next step to transfer the visa to the new passport, or is that not required? Can you get another extension of stay in this case? Issues with 90 day reporting?

Mix all the terms and we get a solution. a Visa is a sticker in your passport and can NOT be transferred (ripped out and stapled in) to another passport. You can not get a new Extension of Stay based on a new passport, unless your had to renew your passport due to expire date but in that case your Extension of Stay will be the same date. 90 day reporting still stay the same. If you get a new passport from you Embassy in Bangkok you will get also a form with request to transfer your Extension stamp into the new passport, those with a Visa have to use both passports till expiry date of Visa.

If you have the re-entry permit in your old passport and on arrival you show both passports it would be no problem. Immigration will stamp your new passport with the same end date as your current Extension of Stay.
