Is it advisable to visit the Embassy in person for my visa application status?

Hello,

I've applied more than 10 working days ago and it seems like my application hasn't been processed yet. Would it be a good idea to just go at the Embassy physically and ask about it or could they get annoyed by this and reject my application? That way I could also answer any questions they might have on the spot but that may backfire so I'd rather ask first. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the status of their visa application, which has not been processed after more than 10 working days. They are contemplating whether physically visiting the embassy would be beneficial or counterproductive. Comments from the community suggest that polite follow-ups via email are often effective, with some users noting that the standard processing time is generally within 10-15 working days, considering potential delays like holidays. There is a consensus that in-person inquiries may not reach the appropriate decision-makers and might not be necessary for a status check.

You can usually find the visa processing time on the consulate's website. It's often 10-15 working days. Think of Songkran, when no one worked and many probably took bridging days. They probably have a backlog to work through.

Mine took 15 days.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with asking. In fact, a few people here have sent a polite follow-up email and had their applications accepted the very same day. I’d recommend starting with a simple and respectful follow-up email.

By the way, where are you applying from? Because some embassies have up to 10 business day turnaround time, but some are only 4-5

Most likely if you showed up at an embassy, you are not going to see any of the individuals who actually review and make final decisions. Usually the staff available to engage with are lower level / local staff
