Is it normal for the Thai DTV visa approval process to take longer than expected?

UPDATE: *After 50 days I have been approved for the DTV Visa. I have contacted them by email (consuladotailandia @ gmail . com) asking if they need any more documents because it has been more than 1 month, and the only answer was asking me when I was going to Thailand. From there I guess they schedule the approvals so as not to have the months lost if the trip is not close yet. Another user told me that the approval was scheduled, and apparently it was also my case because I received the visa at 12:06AM. Besides, the Thai embassy in Madrid in August was also on holiday. *

Hi! I would like to ask the group if anyone has had the same experience.

I am applying online for the DTV in Spain (Thai Embassy Madrid). I started the enquiry on 25.07.24... had to upload some extra documents on 1.08.24 (bank statements, proof of salary and flight ticket).

This was checked on the same day and since then the status has been pending approval.

I often see here that most people get their visa after a few days. Is it sometimes normal that it takes so long?

My flight to Thailand is at the beginning of October but I will be in Malasia before then.

What should I do? Wait a little bit longer or get in touch with the consulate asap?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the experience of applying for a DTV Visa online through the Thai Embassy in Madrid. After 50 days of waiting, the author received their approval and shared updates on communications with the consulate. Various comments from other users reveal similar experiences, suggesting that the approval might depend on the consul's availability, particularly during holiday seasons. It appears that inquiries about application status and follow-ups are common among applicants, reflecting a range of processing times for visa applications.

Yo estoy en la misma situación. Hoy he pasado a "pending aproval".

Saludos y 🤞🤞

I applied there on Aug 12, they asked the next day for another document, then after that nothing. I emailed them two days ago to ask how long it will take. They replied and asked when I'm traveling. I replied end of September, they replied and said that then the visa should be approved soon.

I got the approval today, exactly 30 days after I applied, and I received it at 1206AM spanish time, suggesting the approval was set to automatically approve on that date. Maybe it's to extend the validity (not vaste from the 5 years before you travel).

- Thank you very much for your information and congratulations! I wrote to them last week but apparently it wasn't the right email... this Monday I emailed again to the embassy and they immediately answered me and asked me when I was going to Thailand... I told them the 4th of October... but until today there was no more answer... and what you say can be but there are other people who are going later to Thailand and they already have their visa... so I don't know what's their logic behind all this 🙃

Hi Dani, I also applied in this embassy. I've heard it takes longer here. I submitted mine on Saturday and haven't been contacted at all yet for any extra documentation. The status on their website is also pending check documentation.

- Hi! It's noticeable that they take longer 😅 and in August they apparently didn't work because of holidays... I will wait for the next week... If I don't get any news I will contact them again 🤞

Send them a status check email..

May I ask you what else was needed, how did you proof for example that your are in the country?

@Angelica *************
I guess you have to send the registration (empadronamiento) certificate. That is what I sent to them

- I first sent the basics they asked for.... copy of passport, work contract, bank proof of having more than 13.000€ in my bank account, then they asked for the bank movements of the last 3 months, last salary and the departure tickets from Spain to Thailand... but my flight to Thailand is from Malaysia so I have sent all the tickets and explanations why from Malaysia... so I guess that is "the verification" that you are applying from Spain... apart from my ID card (DNI)

You might contact them and inquire if there's anything more that they require for your DVT Visa application.
