# DTV Approved - Sydney

Thought I should give back as I am pretty appreciative of the advice that this community has provided.

1. DTV Application submitted on 28/01/26

2. Pending Approval 09/02/26

3. Visited the embassy on 13/02/26. Requested for update. Filled out a form and the guy talked to me and said they will try get it through before my departure date. They're quite nice.

4. Approved on 13/02/26. 2 hours later.

Overall Comments

I applied for Muay Thai Visa.

For the financial component, I wrote a cover letter explaining the attached financial statements and converted the balance to Thai Baht for each month within the letter, showing that I had more than the required 500,000 THB in balance. I also made a statement saying in bold and underlined, emphasising that "*I do not and will not earn any income from Thailand or Thai sources.*". I included an additional paragraph to explain how I will be supporting myself financially (remote income overseas) and included client contracts there.

For proof of residency, again I wrote a brief statement upfront, explaining what I have attached (Drivers License and Bill) and confirm my address within the statement.

Both the statement and cover letter is branded & formatted, and within the header is my full name, address and contact details. Similar to a cover letter or a CV you submit for job applications. I try make it look as professional as possible, so it stands out.

For the activity, my gym provided all the documents so I just double checked it and merged the docs together. No cover letter here because they actually wrote one themselves for me, which was cool.

Obviously this is most likely overkill but there was 2 reasons I did this:

A) I wanted to provide clarity to the people that are reviewing the documents, so that they aren't having to cross check and manually look for information across documents. This is to make their lives easier, which in turn helps the probability of my application going through. Imagine, these guys looking at document after document on a Thursday 4:30PM, mistakes can happen, so I needed to make it as easy for them as possible.

B) I thought about their pov and why they would deny DTV visas, so I wanted to remove any sense of doubt that they might have (ie. if the applicant runs out of funds, how will he support himself? Will he seek employment from Thailand, which is illegal). So I wanted to be very clear that this will not happen.

In terms of attending the embassy, my gut feeling was if I do attend, it's a very soft but possibly effective way to stay on top of mind. Again, the approval 2 hours later could be totally coincidental.

Anyways, hope this helps. Thanks to a quite a few people who answered my questions across this forum.

Should I go to the embassy where I applied for the DTV visa even though it doesn't have the location?

It doesn't say where, but should I go to the embassy where I applied for my DTV visa?

場所が書いてないけど、DTVビザを申請した大使館に行けばよいのでしょうか?

I submitted my paperwork on October 13th, got documents requested on the 17th, and I’ve been waiting since. Is it worth visiting the Embassy in-person to get an update? They immediately hangup the phone if I try to call, and when I emailed them before, they said it would be processed by yesterday. I’m supposed to head out tonight, so I’m worried.

Hello,

I've applied more than 10 working days ago and it seems like my application hasn't been processed yet. Would it be a good idea to just go at the Embassy physically and ask about it or could they get annoyed by this and reject my application? That way I could also answer any questions they might have on the spot but that may backfire so I'd rather ask first. Thank you
