Hello. I’m from Australia and wanting to go to Thailand for 90 days and just need clarification for the single entry visa, if I apply online for a single entry visa before entering Thailand do I get 60 days in Thailand and then do I have to get an extension in Thailand at embassy of additionnal 30 days equalling to 90 days total, is this correct?

Also any rough estimations for the costs of both the single entry visa and extension.

Adding to that anyone know how many single entry visas one can get in a single year?

Thank you for the help 🙏🏽

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the process for obtaining a single entry visa for a 90-day stay in Thailand. It was confirmed that by applying online for a single entry tourist visa, one receives 60 days upon entry, which can then be extended for an additional 30 days at a cost of 1900 baht. The estimated cost for the single entry visa is around $40 to $60 AUD. There are no strict limits on the number of single entry visas one can apply for in a year, though excessive applications can lead to rejections. Current discussions also mention pending changes to visa exemptions in Thailand that may affect duration and costs.

, wait until early next week, 15th or 16th I believe. There's an update to the Visa Exempt entry that was just announced today. Currently, Visa Exempt entry is 30 days, which can be extended at an Immigration Office in Thailand to get a further 30 days at a cost of 1900 Thai Baht, roughly $AU77. As of early next week, it's been confirmed, the Visa Exempt entry has been announced to be changing to 60 days. It hasn't announced yet, if a 30 day extension will be available on top of the 60 days. If that does happen (60 + 30 days), then a 90 day visit 'may' only mean paying the cost of the extension (currently about $77)...unless they increase the cost of an extension. Currently, to apply for a 60 day Tourist Visa, the cost is $60, then add about $77 for the extension. Possibly 90 days for maybe about $77 instead of $137 which a Tourist Visa and extension is right now. The announcement will be official once it's published in Thailand's Royal Gazette.

sorry, I don't know, if you're referring to the 60 day Tourist Visa that you apply for as it stands right now. On my one visit to Thailand, I just booked my flight and accommodation, flew there and had a stamp placed in my passport allowing me 30 days in country. If you're talking about the Visa Exempt entry, you don't need to apply for that. It's just a case of booking your flight and accommodation, flying there as I did and when you arrive at the airport in Thailand, they will put a stamp in your passport.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visa excempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

If visiting the nearest Thai Embassy website, you may find informations, that make it much easier to apply online.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

Then no need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

There's no need for an onward ticket when applying for a 90 days Non-immigrant O Visa based on for example retirement or marriage.

My and the OP post is about the visa options EVERYBODY can get as tourists, and not the options, where you need to:

have large deposits in a Thai bank,

be married,

have a certain age.

All tourists visa / visa excempt options need to have conformity between the dates on the visa and onward travel.

Yes you are correct. 60 days 60 Aud plus extension at any immigration office for extra 30 days 1900 baht.

Technically there is not limit for the single entry visa for single year. You will know once your application gets denied. That’s probably the limit. You not gonna apply more than 5,6 visa in a year anyways.

If you thinking of keep coming back to Thailand. Might as well apply for multi entry visa. One multi entry visa will get you max 9 months in Thailand.

You do extension at your local immigration in Thailand at 1900 baht and a single entry tourist visa is normally around $40 USD unless you apply in NZ. There’s no official limit of tourist visas, but you can’t in the end do long stays in Thailand without a long stay visa.

You can get a 60 day visa before you leave. Then extend it for an additional 30 days for 1900 baht.
