I am currently renewing my British passport and currently work here on a BOI two year visa.(it's two years as I am not able to show full education records) My question is the company I work for have asked me to contact the British embassy here and request a letter requesting support with my visa transfer to my new passport. I was under the impression that this is no longer available but is this documented somewhere. Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently working in Thailand on a BOI two-year visa, is in the process of renewing their British passport and seeks clarification on the necessity of obtaining a letter from the British embassy for transferring their visa to the new passport. Comments reveal that such letters are no longer issued, with several users confirming this information and guiding the original poster to local immigration services, which are aware of the new policy.

Your employer is a day late and a dollar short about you needing that embassy letter to transfer your stamps to the new passport.

AND

seeing as you're on a BOI 2 year visa if you're in bangkok you use Cham Churi Square's One Stop Service Center and they totally know there is no letter anymore

Just an aside, it got so bad at some immigration offices when the US stopped issuing the letter with passport renewals that the US embassy ACS division here had to come up with an official letter saying they didn't give the letter anymore ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

UK had stopped issuing a letter to verify old/new passports. Check your new passport if that has information about your old passport. and There was a report that the immigration officer asked for a receipt of passport issuance instead of a letter.

No idea if documented somewhere but itโ€™s the case. The embassy no longer issue passport renewal letters. Immigration are well aware of this.
