TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your visa from an old British passport to a new one in Thailand, you'll need to check whether you have a visa or an extension of stay. If it's an extension of stay, you must bring both passports and a letter from the consulate to the local immigration office where your extension was issued. In some cases, different immigration offices may have varying requirements or fees for processing the transfer. It's important to confirm the process as it may differ between Hua Hin and other locations in Thailand.

I goofed about the fee for the transfer stamp. It looks like SOME immigration offices are charging a fee ๐Ÿ™ Sorry for deleting the comments.

Different immigration offices do things differently, and I know the immigration office over in Kanchanaburi (my immigration office) doesn't charge ๐Ÿ™ . If I deleted your comment, I undeleted it ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry for the mistake ya'll

Normally you just hand it to immigration when you leave the county, you should have a letter with your new passport as well to hand to them when you leave either by land or at the airport. That's what I did when I got mine just over two years ago

if you have a visa (the sticker in your passport) where you used to bounce in and out every 90 days, you just show both passports when you stamp out. ๐Ÿ™‚

nope that is not how it works if you're on a year extension ๐Ÿ˜•

You have to go to the immigration office and get the extension stamps moved to the new passport.

Just so you're clear, they won't move a VISA <- sticker or stamp to a new passport. IF you're on an "extension of stay" they will move it to the new passport.

When you got your new passport you got a letter from the consulate addressed to immigrations too.

You take the old passport, the new passport and that letter to the immigration office where you got your extension and they will move the stamps

This is what's required in BANGKOK to move the stamps to a new passport (it may or may not be required in Hua Hin)

When I did mine recently in Hua Hin, although I had the consulate letter, the pepple at immigration reception gave me their own form to fill in and present upstairs instead. (It is very similar to the letter).

The cost for the transfer was 500 baht.

Right, you need to fill the application form, and a letter from your embassy is one of the required documents.

The official fee for stamp transfer is free...

First things first, do you have an actual visa or an extension of stay?
