I'll need to go back to my home country to make a new passport and would like to transfer the extension based on non-ed visa from old passport to the new one upon arriving at Suvarnabhumi. Do I need any documentation from Thailand (apart from re-entry permit) before I leave?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about whether they need any documentation from Thailand, aside from a re-entry permit, when transferring a non-education visa extension from an old passport to a new one after returning to Suvarnabhumi from their home country. The discussion includes advice on obtaining a re-entry permit, the process of getting a letter from the embassy, and the inability to transfer visa stamps at the airport.
Follow up question...When I get an extension before my passport expires, is it only gonna be valid until the expiration date in my passport? Would I be able to get a re-entry in that case, at all?
Thank you Tod. Can you please confirm that the length of an extension will be limited to the expiration of the passport date? E.g. my passport expires on 24th of December, so if I do an extension on 15th of December - it will only be valid until the 24th instead 90 days?
last month you cancelled your Extension of Stay because you stopped going to school and now you want to transfer the cancelled Extension into a new passport?
No. I canceled my extension as I was leaving to make a new ED visa (different school) before my latest extension expired. If I didn't, I would have came back to Thailand before my last extension (canceled one) expired with a new visa...
My passport is expiring later this year and I will go to my home country to renew it, but I will have an active extension in the passport. Want to make sure I do everything by the book to avoid problems.
In some cases you don't need anything else when you move stamps to your new passport issued in your home country, but some cases you need to show some proof both are yours to move stamps.
Or you may want to try to talk with your passport issuer about letter or confirmation regarding your new passport when you apply and receive your passport. What you may need to move your stamps in Thailand is stating that this new passport number is replacement of this old passport number for this same person, or something similar.
Get a re entry then go home, get yr new passport, then when back here, goto yr embassy to get a letter to ack change to new passport, then take to TH immigration to stamp on yr new passport.
