Do I need to transfer my education visa from my old passport to my new British passport before traveling to Bali and returning to Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I just received my new British passport. My old passport has an education visa that expires on the 28th of July. I am flying to Bali on 27th July for a few weeks to return on a tourist visa and process a new education visa. Do I need to transfer the visa I have on the old passport to the new one or just leave it? Seems pointless as its just a few weeks till I leave and the old passport hasn't expired by date yet. August 10th expires (old passport) but it has a diagonal cut on the front. Many thanks if anyone can help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the necessity of transferring their education visa from their old British passport, which has a diagonal cut, to their new passport before flying to Bali and returning to Thailand. They plan to apply for a tourist visa upon their return and process a new education visa later. Comments clarify the importance of understanding their current visa status and whether the stamp is an extension or the initial 90 days, which affects the need for a transfer.

Unfortunately, we are not going into the Bali consulate details. Sorry for removing those comments about consulate in Bali. That's what OP needs to find out.

Make sure you know the Thai consulate in Bali is not available for visa services. It's only for Thai citizens. So you cannot get a tourist visa there.

fair enough. It was very lovely when I went. Just some old Thai man in what seemed like his house sorting his garden when I turned up. Only me there! Easiest tourist visa ever

There are two points you need to check

1. what is your current stamp, a) extension of stay or b) the first 90 days from your initial visa?

2. Are you going to apply for a new Non-ED for the advanced/sequel course to the current one from the same school?

- IF the answer to 1 is b), you cannot transfer the stamp. just leave as planned.

- IF the answer to 1 is a) AND 2 is No, you have to transfer your extension stamp and then cancel the current extension before you leave. Especially if you are seeing to leave or enter through a land border.

- IF the answer to 1 is a) AND 2 is Yes, you can leave without transfer stamps and may not have issue unless you go through a land border.
