Hi all, I have been quoted by a Visa office here in Hua hin a fee of 39000baht all up to process a NonO visa online 90 day

They would basically open my bank account for the required amount, (my funds) do all the submissions and apply for the retirement visa.

So my question is 39000 a fair price.
Answer summary
A user inquired about the fairness of being quoted 39,000 Baht for processing a Non-O visa in Hua Hin, which would include opening a bank account and applying for a one-year retirement visa. The community response varied widely: some suggested that the price is high and that the process can be done independently for a fraction of the cost (around 1,900 Baht), while others acknowledged the convenience and challenges of doing it alone. Overall, many comments emphasized that hiring an agent could be unnecessary if one has the required funds and is willing to handle the bureaucracy themselves.

simple calculation. how much is your 1 minute time? or one hour time? I just calculated how many hours you need when you do it all by yourself. including extension and opening bank account. the main time spenders are, Banks, and Thai immigration. If things all go smoothly, it would take around 4-5 hours including moving time by taxi or motor bike, or walking or whatever.. And plus waiting times at each place. If things go wrong, it can take days or weeks depending on luck. This included all preparation time for all documents etc.. printing, copy, certifying etc.. it all depends on how much your time. and calculate what is better and efficient for you with agent or without agent DIY. Good luck anyway.

Follow the simple guidance on Thai embassy website, it will cost you 1900bht + a few small charges for photocopy etc at immigration. It's not rocket science, but if you want an agency to do it for you then anything between 20k -50k can be the running cost.

IMHO , DIY, then you'll understand the system, avoid that and you'll always be paying the agents fees! Good luck.

Been researching for a while to do something similar. Personally, I think the information from Thai Immigration is straight forward. They are the ones that issue visas and stamp permission to stay yearly in passports for retirement. From experience, if the paperwork isn’t correct, issues arise. Australian Thai consulates and Embassies can also assist with information.

How long is a piece of string …. Doing it yourself cost 1900 baht (and quite a bit of your own time to familirise yourself with the system and running around) ….. through to paying agent to only extend the visa for 14,000 , your own price of doing everything at 39,000 and some agents charging 65,000 being the maximum

i saw. I somehow managed to go the cheap Charlie 1900 route for last few years and buy myself a motorbike as a reward.

Expensive, because the funds shown are really yours. Though still have to be there for 3 months.

The cost surely shouldn't be more than 20k. 4 years ago I paid 16k for mine in Udon Thani.

For others wanting to use agents funds beware.

AI will find out the funds entered and left your account? and flag you! Your visa could be revoked, even deported and blacklisted.

Adrian Bursill when your funds are in and out left your account, then your visa can be revoked then deported and blacklisted? I meant, after one year extension?? Just laughing. Let me say, for example, you extended last month, July 2026. But you have very personal situation and must leave Thailand as soon as possible and wont come back to Thailand within years. So you do not withdraw your funds from your bank account before you leave? sure, you withdraw your funds. Your funds are in and out and nothing left in your account. so your visa ( or extension )is revoked and you got deported and blacklisted. Right? The many foreigners who have personal reason to leave Thailand and left with their all funds from Thailand are deported and blacklisted. Good job! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Non O Visa you can easily apply by yourself. If you want to open a Bank account the reason ia properly that you want to extend for one year. It might be difficult to open an account.

Sometimes it is a little tricky different Banks, different rules for Farang. My recommendation is to enter a Shopping Mall where there are different Banks and try one after one.

Before you can apply for an account you need a certificate of residence, which you can get at your Immigration Office. For valid Info always ask the Immigration or use their homepage. Good luck to you

The only reason to use an agent in this situation is if you don't have the funds yourself to qualify for the visa and are wanting to subvert the process and illegally obtain a visa that you don't have the funds to be eligible for. If you have the funds, no need to waste this sort of money. Go to immigration, get the print out of requirements and go through it step by step. It is very simple, as long as you can read and understand English. If you are vision impaired,, do not speak or read English, or are illiterate or so frail/ bedridden that you couldn't attend immigration, then getting an agent to photocopy a few forms for you and attend immigration with you / for you might be warranted. Seriously, if you applied for a passport yourself in your own country, this is no more difficult

Current immigration focus is eased with an agent.

This longstay I opted for Same O visa process. I have similar deal in Pattaya same estimate. My buddy moved over in November great support and used them. We also get lease review, drivers license support motorcycle, auto is more. We fit the Financials but wanted money side documented based on our 65,000 baht plus monthly pensions. They speed up the process at the bank and I time my automatic deposits to fit 2-3 documented 65k+ foreign deliveries- helped with visa. 90 day and 1st year renewals are an add on I bundled.

I got my first long stay visa in 2004. When Crack downs are happening it's easier with a good agent.

PinkCrocodile4869 yes sure, but most people haven't got $1000 to give away to an agent for a few hours work, when you're the one having to provide all the information and probably having to attend the bank & immigration anyway.

Also, pretending you're putting in 800,000 baht when you're not, as some agents do, is a risk, even if you're only doing what the agent tells you, it doesn't take away from the fact that it's a loophole/possibly illegal and will be clamped down on at some point, the agent may be okay but you're the one that may lose your right to remain

A lot of clueless comments. Here the correct calculation and advice: The Bank account + initial 90 days is part of the package. The agent open the bank account at a location in which he will put the money there on the same day. Which mean that he has contact and he is able to put money in and out quickly and get the Bank certification. p.s: If you have the funds already, you do not need an agent. Agent are strictly useful for people who do not meet the financial requirement. Hence why they charge a premium.

The cost for opening the bank account in such case is usually 5-7k baht, and the cost for the Non-O usually 20-25k. So this should not be more than 25-32k. + an additional 25k to 35k for the 12 months extension.

Next year, you will only have to pay for the 12 months extension. So 39k seems very expensive for the bank account + initial 90 days. Also, there is no such thing as 90 days online in your case. Your agent is simply doing everything for you, but it's not done online
Angelo ***********
Angelo ***********
Sujy Sujaree If you do your first extension with an agent: no immigration office will give you another extension.

But if not, it's often the best solution, and if next year you have the funds, you simply have to leave the country, apply for 90 days, and come back. True, you can't extend without leaving and restarting the process. But in general, those who use agents year 1 will not suddenly find 400k-800k for year 2, or they simply don't want to cashout passive income.

Steve Greir There a severe lack of understanding, even amongst long term members, of the difference between fraudulous and legitly obtained.

Fraudulous is when the stamps are falsified (fake), not done from an officer, but using tools to pretend an officer put a stamp there.

Legitly is when an agent use a real officer at a immigration to provide said stamps. It's a completely legit visa (stamp), which will not lead to an overstay, etc.

When the stamp is fake, you are not even in the system so you are basically overstaying. The difference is important. Many like you are failing to understand the nuance. Your feeling about such practice is irrelevant.

Sujy Sujaree It's against the law so it is obtained fraudulently with a real Immigration Officer using a real stamp to ignore that the financial requirements were not met. Sujy *********
Paul Jones It's going around the law (proof of funds), but it's not a scam/fraud per se. Each immigration set their own rules. If an immigration agree that 24h in bank account is enough, it's up to them. If a bank decide to provide the certificate, it's up to them. If there is a crackdown, the agent adjust, that's pretty much it.

Within 2 weeks of arrival You need to set up a Thai bank account & deposit 800K Baht , per person , for at least 60 days to satisfy the extension

Go to the bank of choice & ask them what they require to open a bank account

You can also come to Thailand on a tourist Visa & get it converted to a Non-O retirement Visa for a much higher cost

If you have a non o and Funds and enough time than Fee to much ...If you come on Visa exempt...than it's resonable,

Rod King go to Kasikorn bank to open your account, it usually follows all the rules set by immigration, just go in ask what they want, they will probably print you out the requirements they need, follow it and you’ll have your account opened in

Here's our current price sheet for this type of situation.

However, it appears the service the individual is referring to is much less comprehensive and may not include the actual 1-year extension (its about 8k thb higher than our listed rate for the non-o+bank).

Our yearly extension service remains only 14,000 THB. This also includes free door-to-door document collection and return in Bangkok. Alternatively, you can visit our office or send your documents via secure post if you are outside Bangkok.

sir this how you handle the problem. Let the professionals handle it and pay an agent. Easy and this company here is the least expensive of all of them. I paid 48k baht for a retirement visa from another company but wished I had spent my money here.

Dave Nichol Brandon is right. You are comparing apples with peas, you don't talk about the same thing. Circumvening the law by opening a bank account on a tourist visa, and issuing a 90-days Non-Imm-O followed by the 1-year extension, has a standard price of up from 60,000 THB and only a handful of agents have the connections needed! Your 20,000 THB are the price if somebody has entered on a Non-Imm-O and opened a bank account to deposit his own funds of 800,000 THB. If not using own funds, the price would be up from 32,000 THB. Only subsequent annual extensions by the same agent without using own funds can cost 18,000-20,000 THB

Not really John. I am not implicating myself or saying that is a route that I would take, however the amount of money being asked of the author of the post is outrageous. Agents are widespread and are used for many different processes and are very helpful in a lot of cases, but like every process in life you can come across people who want to take advantage of your situation.

Michael Durkin I think the rules are all the same…. They really don’t change … but you get a lot of miss information off the internet….. and different office (IO) focus on different things so it is best to get your information from your Immigration office that you are dealing with …. That was my experience 🤷‍♂️

The other part of that is what I think is reasonable or I understand is not what is accepted, I get things confused fortunately my wife keeps me straight 😂🤣👍

Don Smith agree. Two trips to Bangkok Bank to get statements and letter. No problem as it is close.

Get photos from Bluport.

Then time at home to go on the laptop to do the TM7 and TM8 then print off. Then print Google map of house location. Photocopy the bank book, yellow book and all this can be done at home. Job done.

Sebastian Barrow I've been doing mine for 15 years with, like you, never the slightest problem and never spending more than 2100B total and two hours time to do it.

The non-O visa extension must be one of the world's easiest bits of bureaucracy.

I think that people who have problems with doing it must bring them on themselves.
