On the one hand agents say border runs by land are unlimited since July 2024, on the other hand almost everyone else says border runs by plane are unlimited. Does anyone know the truth?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The current situation regarding border runs in Thailand is somewhat ambiguous. While some agents claim that border runs by land are unlimited since July 2024, others argue that border runs by air are considered unlimited instead. However, community feedback suggests that there is no strict 'unlimited' status for either method, and travelers may encounter increased scrutiny from immigration officials during re-entry. Many individuals have reported being questioned on their first border bounce, and it seems that the decision ultimately lies with the discretion of the immigration officer present at the border.

There are no specific limits to either land or air entry. Enjoy

Sounds like a question for Immigration, at first contact what did they tell you?

there are over 70 different offices and many, many border checkpoints. All operate their own way.

yup understood I live here, if anything more the reason to have a proper visa. Who wants to chance it when entering a country? I don’t

‘proper visa’ lol. He’s a tourist ffs. The proper visa is no visa. Exemption. Clearly living there isn’t reaching you much about how things work

It’s up to the discretion of the Immigration officer in front of you, if they evaluate you are a genuin tourists, so asking a Immigration office is no guarantee to get into Thailand.

I reckon the only type of person who would ask such a question would be someone who is not a genuine tourist and intends on abusing the system.

I don’t like to chance stuff like that, quite happy with my proper visa for past couple years.

There is a difference between "unlimited" and "no limit."

Currently there is no limit to border bounces by land or by air. But that doesn't mean it's unlimited. They have become more and more strict. Many recent reports of people being stopped and questioned on their first border bounce now. Eventually you will be stopped and denied entry.

If you are doing land border bounces with an agent, there's a reason you have to pay for it. Part of what you are paying for is going to the border agents to look the other way at your previous history in Thailand.
