TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat inquired about the eligibility of applying for a retirement visa at age 50 while their wife is only 42. Responses clarified that the wife can apply for a trailing spouse visa based on the husband's retirement visa once he has received a full one-year extension. Some comments humorously suggested alternatives, but the key information centered on the official visa process.

I thought it was funny too. I actually laughed out loud. But is that was this group is? New people coming to Thailand and people that lived here a long time and know already just take the piss?
You missed the "and everything else" part. The OP has already received excellent advice from Brandon. There's nothing more to add except perhaps a little light humour. Sadly we're living in a world where friendly banter is becoming the domain of those obsessed with being offended. You'll observe the OP also found it humorous! 😆
oh shit I just realized you’re the OP. But yeah that’s the real answer. But again, why do we have to say that? Why can’t we just talk about visa options?
it’s not his wife, it’s just his turn. We’ve lived here a long time and all know when he goes back home she’s going to get dicked down by whatever guy offers her a seafood dinner.
BUT do we have to tell him that? Can’t we just answer his question?
Wife can get a trailing spouse visa based on your visa. You have to wait until you're on the full 1 year extension though, and then go to a nearby Thai embassy outside the country to apply for it.
