TLDR : Answer Summary
The ability to extend a visa in Thailand depends on the type of visa the traveler initially entered on. Specifically, a 15-day visa on arrival is generally not extendable, and travelers from certain countries may not be able to apply for an extension at all. However, those who are visa exempt, like US citizens, can request an extension at a local immigration office, typically for a fee of 1900 THB, and should do this prior to their visa's expiry. It is advisable to visit any immigration office rather than just those in Bangkok.

I don't understand why people don't ask immigration directly. Are they too lazy to ask immigration for the information directly?
Thanks a lot all for support and criticism. Criticism only encouraged us and Finally today we visited Thailand immigration office and got a visa extension for seven days by paying 1900 thb as visa extension fees.
If any body wants to extend visa ,please visit a day before expiry to any immigration office available in all provinces. No need to go Bangkok. Thanks to the officers . They are very nice people to help you.
No, not laziness … the Thai Immigration officials don’t know the Thailand immigration rules. A bunch of random strangers in social media are a much better source of information! 😎

I am visa exempt from US. Would like to extend. Do I just go to local immigration office and pay fee? Can I go to any?
How can people just hop on a plane to a foreign country without doing a little research before? I knew how visas worked in Thailand months before I went.

15 day visa on arrivals are NOT extendable. You can try and apply for a covid extension but it's not guaranteed.
If you are from India (as your profile suggests) then no you cannot extend. You may well be able to apply for an extension, but it will be denied, giving you 7 days to leave.
Sorry I don’t know what the 500 baht per person per day pertains to but that seems to be an overstay charge. You can apply for an extension, but it would be denied at a cost of 1,900 baht and you’d get 7 days to leave.
