American who entered a couple of days ago on the 30 day permit. I'd like to get an extension. Is the extension for another 30 days? Or is it only 7?

If its only 7 then I'll leave the country and enter another southeast Asian country like the Philippines and get a tourist visa there.

How early can I go get the extension as well?

Thank you guys, you're all very helpful

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American who enters Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption can apply for a 30-day extension at any immigration office for a fee of 1,900 baht. The extension begins from the current expiration date, allowing up to an additional 30 days of stay. Applicants can typically request the extension when they have 30 days or less remaining on their visa; however, some immigration offices may require applicants to wait until they have only one or two weeks left. The specific rules may vary by location, so it's helpful to check the local procedures where you plan to apply.

For your nationally it is 30 days extension.

You can extend in advance, but how long in advance depends on the office - in Chiang Mai you can extend 45 days in advance, but others only allow one week in advance.

The extension is added to your current "permission of stay" date you you can extend in advance and you will not "lose" days.

Its a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry for 1900baht at the immigration office. The 30 days is added to the expiration date you have now.

Most places you can go apply for the extension now (when you have 30 days or less) BUT a few will tell you to come back when you have 2 weeks or less and if they're busy they''ll say come back when you have a week left.

It would help if you'd narrow down WHERE you might be applying for the extension so people could give you accurate advice.
