TLDR : Answer Summary
No, the 15-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) in Thailand is not extendable. Although visitors can receive a '7 days to leave' stamp if they overstayed, the VOA itself does not permit extensions. Instead, travelers who arrive under other visa types, such as visa-exempt or tourist visas, can apply for an extension.

why would it be spam- he is an Italian citizen and asking for his Ethiopian friend - a justified question

Oh I did 5 hours ago. Fully legit. Because you don't speak Italian, it doesn't mean he has a fake profile

You get 30 days on arrival visa exempt . This can be extended a further 30 days.

@Roger *********
Only for Visa Exempt entries. Visa on Arrival is 15 days and costs 2k.

you seem to be an Italian citizen, and I am just LOUDLY wondering if MAYBE you made a mistake at the airport, you went to the VOA counter and bought a 15-days visa-on-arrival for 2000.- THB, and entered Thailand with it. Actually, Italian passports will receive a 30 days stay permit when entering without a visa

yes Italian, but I'm asking for an Ethiopian citizen.

OK, I understand

If from Holland have 30 day on arrival or not?
Gregor **********
@Gezinus ****************
not "on arrival". When from Holland, you will not receive a visa at all. You will enter "visa-exempt" and get stamped in for a 30 days "admitted stay"
Gezinus *****************
Thx for helpπŸ™
Gezinus *****************
So I can fly there and get a 30 day stamp?
Gregor **********
@Gezinus ****************
yes you can, but be aware the Airline upon check-in can ask you for a proof of onward travel out of Thailand within these 30 days you will get stamped in. You either must have a return ticket within this 30 days period, or buy a cheap one-way ticket, like Bangkok to Siem Reap

But can extend for 30 days at immigration office with that stamp?
Gregor **********
@Gezinus ****************
yes, you can get ONE 30 days extension for 1900.- THB on Immigration
Brandon ************
@Gezinus ****************
you can get 1 extension yes. But if your airline wants to see a ticket it will need to be within 30 days. The extension means nothing to them.

what passport u have?

U need to apply for a change of visa

@Andreas ********
- wrong !!!
Andreas *********
@Andy **********
why would you insist ? You haven't read and understood
Andreas *********
@Andy **********
that's exactly what I am saying. You can do a change of visa type on a visa exempt or a tourist visa. But NOT on a VOA . . . Are you not capable of reading?
Andreas *********
sorry to burst your bubble 😎

x and

i : you cannot apply for a "change of visa type" out of a visa-on-arrival
Andreas *********
@Andy **********
and you do NOT have a 12-month visa. There is nothing such. You received a "1-year Extension of Stay Permit". You are in Thailand on a "stay permit", not on a "visa". Check the stamp you got, what does it say? It says "extension of stay permitted until" and a date
Andreas *********
@Andy **********
NO, you did not. You CAN apply for the "change of visa type" with a visa-exempt or a tourist visa. But NOT with a visa-on-arrival, believe me
Andy ***********
Andy ***********
@Andreas ********
- i did that

I arrived on a 30 day exemption (not visa on arrival) and converted to Non O thai wife

Maybe u know better but that is what i did

No, visa on arrivals are not extendable
Henry *********
No. But I think you'll get a '7 days to leave' stamp.
Andreas *********
@Henry ********
no, he won't get an "application denied 7 days to leave" stamp, because Immigration won't even allow him to apply
Henry *********
@Andreas ********
That's tough.
Brandon ************
Visa on arrival is not eligible for an extension.
Andy ***********
Andy ***********
I now have a 12 month thai wife extension
Andy ***********
I did exactly that

Arrived on visa exempt ( which is not visa on arrival) and applied for thai wife extension β€”- s

Check the website …
Brandon ************
@Andy **********
what about it? None of these are extensions and none of these can be applied for while you're on visa on arrival.
Anthony ****************
@Brandon ***********
o really are you sure
Brandon ************
@Anthony ***************
yes. A 15 day visa on arrival is not eligible for a tourist extension.
Anthony ****************
@Brandon ***********
does this depend on what passport you have
Brandon ************
@Anthony ***************
yes. Just based on your name you are not eligible for visa on arrival. You probably receive visa exempt.
Anthony ****************
@Brandon ***********
just based on my name ok thanks
Andreas *********
@Anthony ***************
rather based on your citizenship but your name also reveals that you are not eligible for a visa-on-arrival πŸ˜‡
