Do I need to provide accommodation details for my entire stay when applying for a tourist visa to Thailand?

When applying for a regular tourist visa, it asks for accommodation info. Is this for your entire stay? I want to move around Thailand w/o plans, not be stuck in one place that I pre-booked

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a regular tourist visa to Thailand, you only need to provide information about your first accommodation. Many users suggest booking a place for your initial stay, which could be easily canceled later, to satisfy visa requirements. It's also emphasized that accommodations generally report your stay to local immigration, so you don't have to worry about where you stay afterward as long as you're properly registered initially. This flexibility allows you to explore Thailand without being tied down to a single accommodation.

It's always been where you're going to stay your first night. You'll have to write the same thing on the stupid little paper you get on the plane on your way here, too.

Now required you to stay One night for cov-19 test right? Correct me if I'm wrong. As I read you need to stay One night for the antigen results

Just your initial hotel

Honestly, you should be fine if you only put your first one. Wherever you are staying should be auto reporting your stay anyway. I think it would only become a problem if you weren't checked in for a few weeks.

If you want to make sure you're covered for the visa app, just book something on Agoda/booking.com for the rest of your stay that allows free cancellation. Attach the confirmation and you're good

that's kind of what I was thinking about doing, I'm glad someone else said it

also, you'll need to show flight itinerary but again, who's going to buy their flight before they know they've got a visa? A confirmed flight itinerary will suffice and you'll find companies online offering them for about $20

great to know! Crazy how many hoops we have to jump through to go spend money in their country. I might keep you on speed dial, you know your stuff haha

ha. No worries bud. Covid meant I had plenty of time on my hands to work it all out. The bottom line is see how little you can get away with if it seems to much. Theyre not going to reject you outright. There'll just want the missing stuff and there's a definite correlation between length of visa and amount they genuinely want to see

Dang, I was considering doing the STV but changed because of that! How long have you been using the STV?
Brett **********
@Logan ******
after I got the STV I realised I wasn't going to be able to get out in time to extend it as the rules changed (they've have changed again since then and it's been extended to another year). As UK had put Thailand on redlst at that point I was worried about getting to end of the 3 months and having to the pay a fortune to quarantine at a Travelodge in Hounslow, so, as I just hit 50, went for an O-A instead. Now the STV is valid for extentions again and you want to do more than 3 months but less than a year it's the best choice. I believe the only issue with it is you can't convert it to another type of visa but not an issue if you've no intention of doing that. The London embassy turned mine around in under a week, and that's when you still had to send off your passport. Should be a matter of hours with the new e-visa.

wow, thanks for all the info!

no worries dude. Good luck. It can seem a bit daunting but their website is a bit one size fits all so there'll be things that seem counter intuitive or not relevant to the visa you want. For instance, they want you to show proof of insurance but who's going to buy that before knowing they've got a visa? When I applied for the STV i just uoloaded the terms of the policy I intended to purchase and that was accepted. When I applied for the O-A I needed the real thing but found a broker who'd refund if visa not granted

dang that's smart!

@Logan ******
chances are they'd not even notice/care if you just left it with your first hotel but it's what i did for my STV visa and was all good
Grant ************
You only need to put in your first point of accommodation and every time you change hotels the hotel you are staying at will report you to local immigration.

If you rent a place then the landlord should also report you to immigration as a formality.

Thais can't cope with all this. They think we all arrive on a jumbo jet with a suit case full of money and stay in one hotel for 30 days and then go home.

ahh, that's a little scary. How about AirBNB's will they still report/should be ok to book?
Nick ****************
Seriously if you are worried book yourself into a cheap 150 baht fan only hostel for your time period. You can then stay where you want but don't check in anywhere using your passport. Get girlfriend to check in
Nick ****************
@Logan ******
Air BnB probably not as most of them aren't licensed and fly under the radar.

oh do you mean under the radar in a good way?
Jared **********
@Logan ******
he means a lot of air bnbs aren’t done legally and therefore have no reporting method, if it’s done legally they have to pay extra taxes so they avoid that
Logan *******

@Jared *********
ah gotcha, does that mean I'd get in trouble if I stayed in one that doesn't report?
Jared **********
@Logan ******
it’s thailand so god only knows, if you were staying with a gf you wouldn’t get reported either. If you needed documentation for a longer visa, like STV I think it would be a problem.
John *******
@Logan ******
That is one of several slightly dodgy aspects of AirBnB in Thailand. Others have stated their hosts were not prepared to send reports to immigration.
Grant ************
@Logan ******
it’s fine and has always been the case. It’s all just a formality and you wouldn’t even know it was done.

No idea about AirBnB as last I heard Thailand was trying to outlaw it as the hotels got angry about it.

If you’re doing Airbnb just ask the question as it should be a no brainer really.

Like mentioned above just put down your first point of stay and then don’t worry about it.
