How long does the Thai Pass usually take and should I abandon my visa application?

Hi

I applied for a 60 day Thai visa 4 days ago, not heard anything yet.

I just read somewhere that you should apply for the Thai Pass 7 days before (I don't remember seeing that before).

I fly on 7 Dec.

The Thai pass asks for Visa info.

How long does the Thai pass usually take?

Options as I can see them:

1. Abandon the Visa and go for 30 day entry and apply for Thai Pass now (then needing to extend 30 days once there)

2. Keep waiting for the Visa to arrive then apply for Thai pass once I have it (risking that I might not get the Thai Pass in time).

Does anyone have any advice on which would be better to do? How long does Thai Pass take usually?

Is it likely I won't get the Thai Pass in time whatever I do?

If I apply for Thai Pass now and the Visa comes - can I update it or apply for another one?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking advice on whether to proceed with their visa application or switch to applying for a Thai Pass due to concerns about timing before their flight on December 7th. They expressed uncertainty about the Thai Pass processing time, which leads to confusion about potentially abandoning their current visa application. Community responses varied from recommending immediate Thai Pass application to sharing personal experiences with the processing times and suggesting a 30-day exemption. Key points include that applying for the Thai Pass does not require a visa and that quick approvals are possible if the application is filled out correctly.

Have you logged in and checked your visa status?

I'm giving up on the Visa - just 10 days of my life messing around wasted.

I'll go with 30 days without visa then try to extend

I'm flying the 7th too - Singapore Airlines?

My Thai Pass came through 2 mins after my last attempt though which is great. If my Visa comes before Tuesday it comes, if not oh well.

How long did your Visa take?

Apply for Thai Pass now. Fill in correctly you will get it back in 5 mins.

Crop and paste your QR codes for your vaccinations makes it quicker.

Don't need visa first before the pass

I only got QR code on paper so it's not perfect - tried uploading a screen grab of the QR code on paper - it rejected it

I guess there's nothing stopping someone from applying multiple times (in the hope a later / changed application will go through faster)

You don't need the visa to get the Thai pass, so I would be applying for the Thai pass now.

7 days is short but if you submit everything they are asking you might be fine. I did the same and was panicking and then they approved it within three days

If you're really lucky, you might get everything in time (I doubt it). However, you're lucky in that you can enter on a visa exemption—which gives you 30 days, with the possibility to extend it for 30 days at 1,900THB. So you don't have to lose your flight.

(You can still use you SETV, which is valid for 3 months. But leaving and re-entering Thailand is difficult at the moment. Especially with Omicron in the next months.)

Applying for your visa 7 days before your flight was WAY too late. Basically last minute.

7 days for Thai Pass is also basically last minute (some have waited 14 days for it).

You don't need visa for Thai pass.

If you applied 4 days ago for visa and fly on the 7th you didn't leave the 21 days they ask for to process.

Your Thai pass will come.

You will probably have to contact your consulate to facilitate your visa.

Look for your consulate Facebook page and message them on messenger or try calling or emailing, but I had success on messenger.

If your vaccine card has a QR code then you stand a chance of getting auto approved

Depending how long you’re planning on coming for I would either push the trip or come on exempt

I applied and got my Thai Pass before my TV 60, I believe they are done from different locations/systems

Did you then go on to use the 60 day visa with the Thai Pass that you received before it?

So they don't check the end date you put in the Thai Pass on the way out of the country then?

8 days for me . But yes it's a worry

I did Thai Pass first and just said staying 28 days. My visa took 14 days. Arrived before I left luckily. If it didn’t apparently you can get flight reservations for about £10 to satisfy airline. Then just extend another 30 days in country

@Paul ******
Do you know if you need a flight leaving Thailand within the 30 days if you only have a 30 day visa (ie no visa)? Even if you intend to extend?

airlines can get difficult if you don’t.

Thanks - never has a trip required so much messing around! Just when you think you've done everything lol.

What do you mean by £10 flight reservations exactly?
Paul *******
@Nick *********
there are a couple of sites I found. Pay a small fee and get a reservation over the period you are flying out. It lapses after you arrive

Thanks - can I ask what you based this advice on?

@Nick *********
it can take up to 7 days to get Thai pass so hurry, read through topic test and gp about images QR codes etc etc.

If your vaccination certificate does not have a QR code it means has to be checked manually
