Will applying for a single tourist visa at the Thai Consulate on October 24th give enough time for processing before a flight on October 26th?

My family and I are flying out of NY on October 26th (very early morning - 1am). We were thinking of going down early to apply for a single tourist visa in person. The Consulate is closed on Oct 23rd, if we apply on the 24th will that give them enough time to process 4 visas?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the urgency of applying for a single tourist visa in person shortly before traveling. It suggests that applying on October 24th may be feasible but advises against waiting until the last minute due to potential processing times and holiday considerations. Comments indicate that the visa processing at the NYC Thai consulate is generally efficient, but factors like weekends or holidays could affect timing. It is also noted that visa approval typically takes at least one business day.

I would not wait until the day before! As others have said, counting of days does not begin until you enter Thailand. Good luck!

Also some Thai consulates will do mail service if you provide a postage paid envelope with your application

Should not be an issue...make sure there are no USA or Thai Holidays, or weekends in those dates...the NYC Thai consulate is super easy...if you’re getting a 60 day SETV it’s valid for 90 days before it expires...so you can do it a week or a month out if you like..

no problems people make that mistake all the time...FYI the 60 day SETV costs $60 while the 6 month METV costs $200

Oh, perfect! We were first looking into the METV so that's why I thought the visa started at issue date. Thanks for clearing that up!

it starts when you enter Thailand...whether you get it 89 days out or 1 day out, this is for the 60 day SETV, with a ฿1,900 extension fee at the immigration office, or a fly Out/In, or land border crossing you get 90 days...you’re confusing the 6 month METV that is valid the day you get it....it’s just FYI

We are planning a 3 month stay so ideally, we would like the visa to start the day or day before we leave. And I've read bad reviews regarding their mail service so we were thinking we'd rather just apply in person. Thanks for the advice!
