Will not canceling my student visa affect my ability to enter Thailand for a short holiday?

Hi. Not sure if a stupid question or not. I haven't been to Thailand for about 2 years now however last time I was there I was on a student visa. I left abruptly due to a job offer abroad and didn't cancel the visa or anything when leaving as had not heard this was something that needed to be done. Will this cause me issues when I plan to do a short holiday there for a few days soon?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about re-entering Thailand after having left the country two years ago while on a student visa, which they did not cancel. A commenter reassures them that it should not be an issue for a short holiday, but advises having proof of being a genuine tourist, like proof of onward travel, in case it affects future visa applications.

It wouldn't be an issue for a short holiday. You wouldn't have a problem with entering Thailand again on tourist status just because of not having cancelled the previous extension. It could affect when you apply for a long-term extension, or even for a 30-day tourism extension at a few immigration offices.

You might be better off having proof of being a genuine tourist when you enter Thailand, such as proof of onward travel within given days, accommodation, etc.

thank you. So may cause me issues in the future if I decide to come back on an elite or something with the extensions? But for now I'm only visiting for a few days so will have proof of travel etc as buying a return ticket etc. Thank you for the quick response. Hopefully not a big issue with being years since last there and currently having residency elsewhere.

, correct. It wouldn't be an issue for now. But if you have extra time during your stay in Thailand, it's not a bad idea to get the documents from your previous school to cancel the old extension. I guess it's another story though.

thanks I'll remember that next time I'm in the area though this time I'll be just around for a few days and on the other end of Thailand. Really appreciate the help with this though
