What should I expect after applying for a one-year extension on a Non-B visa in Thailand?

Hi, I went to my local immigration office and applied [within Thailand] for an extension of 1 year on a non B visa after I got my work permit [for teaching] and they took all the documents and application form etc and they said that I should go back in 1 week - which is on the day my visa stamp expires. They don't usually take that long to process so I wondered whether anyone thinks this indicates a problem or could it just be they are busy?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a one-year extension on their Non-B visa and is concerned about the duration of the processing time at the immigration office. Comments suggest that it is common to receive a 30-day under consideration stamp and that the extension may be backdated to the application date.

I would say that it's nothing and if I was a betting man I'd bet when you do go back next week the year extension will be dated from today (the date you applied for the extension)

Thanks, hopefully that will be the case.

Actually many people get a 30 day under consideration stamp and have to go back in a month and get the year extension inked in.

Did they take your 1900baht and give you a receipt?
