How long does it take to get a decision on a Non-Immigrant O visa extension application in Thailand?

Yesterday I applied to extend my Non-Immigrant O type visa based on Thai family at Samut Prakan immigration office for the first time.

Can anyone tell me roughly how long it takes between application and approval decision?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After applying for a Non-Immigrant O type visa extension at the Samut Prakan immigration office, you typically receive a 30-day 'under consideration' stamp in your passport. This stamp indicates when you should return to the office for your decision.

you should have gotten a 30 day "under consideration" stamp in your passport with a date on it saying when you go back to the immigration office

That's when you go back and get the year extension inked in.

Depends on how much tea-money you offer.

my ultimate goal is to get the multiple re-entry permit, as I usually work abroad on a 6 week rotation. Do you know if I can apply for and receive it on that day, if my extension is approved?

I was stuck outside the country for 6 months due to Covid. Now the embassies only issue single entry non-O’s. I’ve been getting multiple entry visas every year for the last 14 years without a hassle. But now it’s a nightmare, unless I can get this multiple re-entry permit 🤞🤞

, you can get a multiple reentry permit on the same day, costing bt3800, or, what I would suggest is getting a single reentry permit at bt1000, and if, because of all the quarantine expense and hassle, you don't return more than three times during the year, you would be wasting money. If the covid-19 situation changes you can always get a multi-reentry permit later. Just so you have at least a single re-entry permit when you leave, you won't loose your extension, then decide later if you will actually need one because of this virus. But either way, you can get it on the same day, and it is recommended.

ok, the text in the stamp isn’t very clear, but I see the date stamped is 9th November.

Thanks a lot! 👍

do you need to return on that exact date or is it +/- days?
