It's not strictly about visa, but related. Hope it's okay, otherwise delete the post admin.
Does a WP necessarily follow the dates of a visa or extension? I have a non o based on marriage that is to be extended in october. I am at the same time looking to work as a teacher at a local school with start in next term at 1st. of November. They would like to make the WP now, as it is more convenient for them.
So my question is, if I apply for a WP now, will it expire already in october and has to be extended again after the extension of stay is approved, or can it be independent, with one year at a time? (Obviously cancelled if for some reason an extension of stay is not made?)
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the relationship between their work permit (WP) and the expiration dates of their non-O visa extension, which is due for renewal in October. They want to know if applying for the WP now would cause it to expire concurrently with their visa or if it can remain valid independently for a year. Other users confirm that a WP can be issued for one year, irrespective of the visa extension dates, although they advise caution regarding visa overstay risks.
