Should I apply for a new Non-B visa or wait for my work permit to be processed?

Hi, (Sharing on behalf of a friend - any help please)

I was working for this school on non-b visa which expired on May 7th. Then I got it extended until September 30th by showing the work permit. The problem is I no longer work at the same school and I am in a different school, in a different province. My old school, technically an agency hasn't cancelled my WP, and I have explained to my director at the new school that I can't rely on this visa, but all she said was I need not worry as they won't be able to cancel my visa. She has sent my documents to process for a new teaching license which I am still waiting for. Whilst all this, should I go for new non-b or wait for the school to process a new work permit, as I am afraid that the agency may cancel my wp anytime, and I may encur a overstay charge. My director also stated that the agency can't cancel my visa but can cancel the permit. Will this cause me problems, there are so many conflicting things coming my way and its stressing me out.

P.S the work permit booklet is with me which I thought I will go and submit it to the labour office while applying for new one.
