Hi Question
I’m on a year long Extension of Stay (Thai Wife) which ends towards the end of February 2021 (soon) which I have prepared and is ready to go paperwork and the financial requirements. This will be third EofS based on (Thai wife).
This week I’ve been offered a part time job.
This is where it gets complicated.
As I know sweet FA about this employment and work permit process.
So then the person took some details from me and said that she would contact immigration which they did. They come back to me and said I had to change to a Non O type visa. And have 800,000 banked to get a work permit....!!!!!
Is there some confusion between immigration and the person relaying this back to me (boss)
As I will be renewing my EofS (Thai Wife) in two weeks time. And I would have thought the work permit is attached to my EofS (Thai wife).
TYIA
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification about their current Extension of Stay based on marriage to a Thai spouse and its relationship with a new part-time job opportunity. They have been informed by someone at their prospective employer that they need to switch to a Non-O visa and maintain 800,000 THB in the bank to obtain a work permit, which has caused confusion. Several commenters clarify that an Extension of Stay based on marriage permits employment without needing to switch to another visa type or meet additional financial requirements for a work permit.
