Hi all, I have a question about cancelling a work permit and visa extension: do non-immigrant O (volunteer) visa extensions need to be cancelled before exiting Thailand or is it only non-B ones?
I have read in this group that WPs first need to be cancelled and then a letter taken from labour department to immigration to cancel the extension (and then exit the same day); but advice from my foundation and from a visit to labour department today suggests I can exit normally and the WP can be cancelled after, by the foundation.
Can anyone clarify?
My extension ends next Friday 27th, but my WP is valid until May (though I will not continue as a volunteer with this foundation). I have a British passport.
Thank you for your help.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around the process of cancelling a Non-Immigrant O visa extension and work permit (WP) before leaving Thailand. There is confusion regarding whether the visa extension must be cancelled prior to exiting the country, particularly when the work permit is still valid. Insights from community members indicate that both the work permit and the extension should ideally be cancelled before leaving to avoid future complications, although some suggest that the foundation can handle the cancellation afterwards.
