TLDR : Answer Summary
The new border run rules currently do not affect DTV visa holders. This visa allows for multiple entries, and although DTV holders should still meet the visa conditions, enforcement has been lax. Some concerns exist regarding potential future scrutiny, but as of now, the changes mainly target visa exemptions and illegal activities. Reports of borders charging extra fees for same-day returns have surfaced, but overall, DTV holders are largely unaffected by the new rules.

Nothing changes for DTV or any visa holders. All the immigration changes are in regards to visa exemptions. The changes have been made to crack down on illegal working and scam center operators mostly.

Currently no. The DTV is a multiple entry visa so you should be able to do multiple entries under it. Keep in mind though that legally, you must still meet the conditions of your visa (500k in the bank, engaged in remote work/soft power etc) upon each entry but there doesn’t seem to be much desire on the side of immigration to scrutinize that right now.

The chief concern I’d have is that this may be the start of a broader crackdown which may impact DTV holders. Thus far there has been very little scrutiny given to DTV holders at the border and immigration is acutely aware that people are doing border runs to avoid the more onerous requirements involved in extending in country.

I will be flying to a neighbouring country for 1 month. I found my other price of paradise so I won't be mentioning it here, I don't want the whole of Thailand turning up there, toot toot!!!

You have a valid visa. The rule is to stop people abusing visa exemptions as a way of staying.

read experiences within the group , you find vastly different realities when entering via land and within 24 hours. Why do you comment this if it is clearly not true

No...you can certainly use land crossings. Don't come back the same day...otherwise it's OK.

The only effect I have seen is some borders and agents trying to take advantage and charging for same-day return - this has been reported at 2 Laos land border points. Probably cheaper to fly somewhere.

you are correct. An agency in pattaya charges 8000b same day. Go to Laos. It’s a 20 hour round trip. I’d rather fly somewhere and enjoy another country for a day or two for the same price !

Anonymous participant 799 I have seen 2 about the Laos crossing. One agent posted Monday same day from Chiang Mai fine on DTV - by that afternoon sending emails saying 2500 fee for same day on top of transport. A Bangkok Visa Run company said they do not do any same day now also. I think it is 1) They are seeing money making opportinity 2) Demand for border runs are way down as the visa exempt guys cannot go and if applying for Tourist Visa need to go where there is a consulate or embassy. From Chiang Mai and need a TR you need to fly in reality.
