Do DTV holders need to report to local immigration every 90 days in Thailand?

Hello!

DTV holders are required to do 90 days reporting as well in local immigration office?

I thought the visa is valid for 5 years & each entry allows you to stay 180 days at a stretch without any border run/ border bounce or any other thing.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, DTV holders are required to do a 90-day reporting at a local immigration office in Thailand. While the DTV visa allows a stay of up to 180 days per entry for a period of 5 years, the 90-day reporting is separate and mandatory for all long-term visa holders. Failure to comply can lead to fines. When traveling within Thailand, it is questioned whether one can report at a different immigration office, like in Koh Samui, instead of returning to the original location.

Every country in the world requires you to do a report every now and then if you're a long stay foreigner with any kind of visa. This is not exclusive to Thailand.

Thanks all for your help & responses. It is clear now I need to do TM47 (90 day report form) & TM30 (Landlord or Hotel stay form). It is simple & straightforward. However, if I stay in Bangkok having an apartment contract with a landlord & I am travelling to a place within Thailand (e.g. Koh Samui), can I go to immigration office in Koh Samui or any nearby office with my Bangkok TM30 form? Or I need to come back to Bangkok to do 90 days reporting?

Still must do TM47 form and TM30 form

You’re right. Up to the ‘or any other thing’ part.

You do indeed have the onerous task of spending ten minutes in an immigration office to complete a 90 day report which doesn’t incur a fee.

The alternative is to not.

Max fine ฿2000 the next time you need immigration to do something for you.

Love your sarcasm and amazed you give so much effort into typing such a long winded reply.

it’s no effort really. I don’t feel burdened by the number of words in the comment either. They were all freely available. Easily typed. My fingers just seem to fly across the screen!

I suppose I could choose to express myself through the medium of dance, but the logistics aren’t favourable. 😊

90 day reporting has nothing to do with border runs. Anyone who is physically in Thailand (unless you have certain residency visas or special status) must report every 90 days.

more or less

Two completely separate things. One is a visa that allows you to stay for up to 180 days, and the 90 day report is to update immigration where your staying during that time.

Thank you! A couple of questions: Do you just walk in at a local immigration office, or is an appointment required? Also, what documents are required to present to immigration? Thanks again!

You still need to report every 90 days. If you leave Thailand before the 90 days are up, the count will reset upon your return. Don’t forget to update your TM30 as part of the process.
