How do I apply for a re-entry visa before leaving Thailand and do I need to notify my residence if leaving before 90 days?

Hi, l got my multiple entry retirement visa sorted last week but unsure on 2 things with it.

1. l intend to go back to the UK before my first 90 days is up and it says l must contact immigration for a re entry visa before leaving Thailand and

2. notification of residence must be made every 90 days.

My questions are:

1. How long before l leave for the UK do l need to apply for a re entry visa and what does it cost or involve?

2. If l leave Thailand before the 90 day notification of residence do l still have to give notification of residence?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a multiple entry retirement visa and is seeking clarification on two points. Firstly, they need to know how long before leaving for the UK they should apply for a re-entry visa, including the cost and process. Secondly, they are unsure if they need to notify immigration of their residence if they leave Thailand before the 90-day notification period is due. Various comments confirm that a re-entry permit can be obtained at any time and costs 1,000 Baht for single entry or 3,800 Baht for multiple entries. Additionally, if the user leaves before 90 days, they do not need to report their residence, as the 90-day clock resets upon re-entry.

Thailand is so ridiculous with all these hoops people have to play. What does it even accomplish ? Ok pay a yearly fee , fine. Why all the reporting and re entry nonsense … like seems costly for the gov anyway just red tape ?

I'm sure they don't want immigration issues like America.

What seems ridiculous to you is the actual hoops you have to go through to get visas/extensions/Permits here.

What you deem ridiculous is irrelevant. They make the rules. You follow them or you don’t and pay the consequences.

I don't think you can get a reentry on the initial 90 day non-o, only on the 12 month extension. If you leave, you have to start over until you get your 1st extension.

not true. You can get a re-entry permit on that visa.

You can have a retirement visa also with multiple entry (like me)

re-entry permit is purchased at the international airports prior to departure. Single entry is ฿1000 and multi entry is ฿3800.

2. No need to report as its a full 90 days spent in Thailand. The clock resets to day 1 on re-entry to Thailand.

You don’t have a multiple entries visa, but you can buy a re-entry permit at the immigration or at the airport before you at 1000 baht for single and 3800 baht for multiple.

You only report after 90 days consecutive days in Thailand, so no notification is needed and the “90 days clock” restarts when you re-enter.

You have a multi entry visa so can come and go as many times as you want.

You do a 90 day report only if in Thailand for more than 90 days. When you come back you notify writhing 24 hrs your address.

1. Anytime, go to Immigration and pay 1000B or get it at the airport while exiting & 2 No, you only report if inside Thailand

You mention that you got a multiple entry extension but none of those stamps mention that. You probably just got the year extension, which is not multiple entry.

If so you need to buy a re-entry permit in order to keep the allowed to stay date alive. Single permit is 1,000 baht, multiple is 3,800 baht.

You can do this at any time prior to leaving. You can get a single entry permit at the airport before you fly. You perhaps won’t be able to get a multiple permit at the airport.
