I would love to understand please. How critical is it to stay in Vietnam and wait for the dtv visa approval? If I leave before approval? Will this create problems?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Remaining in Vietnam while waiting for DTV visa approval is generally advised, as there may be risks associated with leaving the country prematurely. While some individuals report having left Vietnam without issues, there are concerns about potential rejection of the visa application if one is not present during the approval process, especially with increasing scrutiny involving interviews and proof of location. Therefore, to mitigate risks and avoid complications, it is recommended to stay until the visa approval is finalized.

You are supposed to remain in the country you apply in until the process completes. Will it cause you problems? Maybe yes, maybe no. Why take the chance?

I've seen people being asked for a copy of ALL passport pages to prove they remain in the country, and also people being asked to attend in person for interview

I left Vietnam after 5 days to go to Japan …no problems although could have left sooner….just make sure you take photos of all passport pages before….even blank ones

There is a tiny chance you get called in for interview

I hated staying in Vietnam personally there’s way too much pollution there. Also, it’s much better if you go to different country instead of returning to Thailand.

I guess There’s a higher chance of some sort of rejection if you come into Thailand before the DTV is approved probably although many people are saying that managed to do a border bounce fine

dates are embedded in photos

you can get around this by taking a photo of your photo and the new photo will have a new date👍

you realize that making copies of all pages before and then send them as actual just is fraudulent?

the pollution was horrendous I was getting sick from it. I went to phu quoc island and it was better and quite cheap!

Stay where you are. There are increasing reports of interviews and proof of location being required as additional documents. If you're caught returning to Thailand, you’ll lose your THB 10,000 and possibly your chance of getting a DTV. That’s a small investment for 5 years!

Follow the rules. Don't take risks. Be a good little order follower 🤭

It's about balancing the risks for a 5-year visa. A few extra nights in a cheap hotel in Vietnam won't cost much.

So far, there haven't been any case of people getting into trouble for doing that. But there is a high chance of getting rejected if you get caught.

Yes, many are getting interviews these days and posted here.

Anonymous participant 622 where? I never see a post about this? If you travel to another country different from Thailand, it will be ok , I guess 🤔 (but not sure if you travel to Thailand).

@Rob ********
it is not OK, but since you are not registered as being in Thailand during the application it is more difficult to check.

The rules are simple, during application you should be in the country where you apply.

Nowhere is stated that only during start of application you should be in that country.

Yes, traveling to another country, except Thailand, shouldn’t be an issue, if you can come back on time for an interview

—at least based on what I’ve seen so far on this forum.

It will here as people will get hysterical!

Only if they request a copy of ALL your passport pages, a hotel booking to prove you are still there and ask you to attend interview. Up to you as they say.
