Hey, I have to be back on 07/12 to Chiang Mai but I have applied in Hanoi for the DTV. I wanted to ask you, if I get approved or get asked for more documents when I am in Thailand, will it be a problem for me? Will I get denied because of coming back to Thailand before getting approved?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the risks of returning to Thailand before receiving approval for a DTV visa applied for in Hanoi. Community members advise against traveling to Thailand during the application process, as it could complicate the situation if additional documents or an interview are required. Some believe that as long as proof of the application process from Vietnam is provided, it may not be a problem, but others highlight the unpredictability of visa rules and suggest waiting until approval to avoid potential rejection or bans.

The fact that now it is e-visa does not change the rules.

During application you should not travel to another country, with the walk-in this would be impossible because you would not have a passport.

It is just unpredictable if they find out you break the rules, and what will happen.

You might simply be rejected, but also can get a ban, or just get approved.

I think you should take the time to get approved, ans calculate it can take up to 2 weeks.

are you crazy ban for what? Of course you can travel. As there is no requirement to stay where you are and it was never before. People have to work, take care their family aso. If you couldn't travel it would be written in the requirements. And you also can apply in your home country, it says country of residence not of current residence. So I'd you are Belgium you can apply in Belgium any time of the year if your residence is Belgium but you are at this time in another country.

I would say it's risky ...

actually did it, doesn't mean it's a good choice. Do what you want, but the risk is there regardless. I know I wouldn't be risking a rejection, ban or whatever on a visa to be in a country I want to be in...

I believe that if you have already sent a copy of your passport and stamp proving that you were in Vietnam to start the process there would be no problem. But there is always a risk.

Stay where you are. You shouldn't be in Thailand during the process.

They can call you in for an interview at any time.

They might ask you to send proof of current location. I saw a post where the applicant was asked proof of current location when they requested additional docs.

There are cases where people have been in Thailand at the time of approval. I think it depends on the embassy.

but if I get approved and exit the country for one day and cross the border back inside, will that be acceptable by the immigration officers?

you stay in the country whose consulate you applied for the visa at until you get the visa approved or denied. That's the 'official' (non-official) rule.

Why not just move your flight and wait it out like you're supposed to?

. Just wanted to know if 100% will lose my 340$ application fee or if there is a chance to still get approved...

I don't understand how so many people have "emergencies" requiring them to travel outside of country while applying for this visa. Just stay in Vietnam (or apply at a time when you can). Yes, you might get away with breaking Thai government regulations, or you might not. Why risk it?

STAY IN VIETNAM until you have the email DECISION from the Thai Embassy.

Well a visa to stay IN thailand would rank pretty high up on the list of important things to have IF you're going to live here
@Arthur ********
😮

but

with that being said,

there is still a chance you could be approved, (y)

Sadly you wouldn't find out until they email you and it says approved or rejected 😕

Even if approved, you'd also risk immigration noting you had been in Thaialnd during the application process, if they looked into it when you went to re enter on the DTV. It'd be on their records, too.

what I was thinking is if they ask for proof of location, I will send them my stamp and also book a hotel in Vietnam as I was given a 1 month visa here. Which is usually the proof of current location that they request.

Thank you for replying 🙏
