Is it possible to go back to Thailand while DTV eVisa is pending?

I have an active ED visa until end of this year and plan to go to Vietnam next week to apply for DTV. Since next week there is a public holiday I am not sure if they'll be able to finish it until the end of the week and I'm wondering if technically I only have to be physically in Vietnam during the day of application?

Then if I get approved I'd just fly out again and come back on DTV. Just wanted to clarify if thats possible

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it's technically possible to apply for a DTV eVisa while being in Vietnam, but you should be cautious. If you leave Thailand with an active ED visa, it will be automatically canceled unless you obtain a re-entry permit. You must apply for the DTV eVisa while outside Thailand, and being present in Thailand during your DTV application process could lead to rejection. It's advised to avoid being in Thailand while your application is processed to minimize risks. Additionally, the embassy might require an in-person interview, so plan accordingly.

You can only have 1 visa at the time, so to get DTV the ED has to be canceled first.

Hello,

Oui vous pouvez y aller, cependant la demande doit etre réalisée depuis l'extérieur du pays. Et par conséquence, s'ils décident de traiter votre demande au moment où vous y êtes, elle pourrait être annulée.

Being in Thailand at the moment they process your application can be a reason to reject your approval.

Chances that this will happen are not high, but you take a risk.

Your Ed visa will be automatically cancelled when you exit Thailand unless you obtain a re-entry permit.

Technically yes. But the embassy has the right to ask you to appear in person for an interview so perhaps not the best idea
