TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the issue of transferring a visa from an old passport to a new one. It emphasizes that a visa, such as the OA visa, cannot be transferred. The advice given is to carry both the old and new passports when traveling to Thailand, allowing the visa holder to present the old passport with the OA visa, and later, if needed, a new visa or extension can be obtained in the new passport.

As James says, a visa can't be transferred. Carry both until it is time to get a new one, or if an extension of stay is applied for, that can be stamped in the new passport later.
