When transferring a visa from an old passport to a new passport does the passport holder have to be present? My daughter renewed her passport and I am hoping to just go in myself and have it moved without having to pull her out if school.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When transferring a visa from an old passport to a new passport, it is generally not possible to transfer the visa itself. Instead, the holder must carry both the old and new passports together. This means that for your daughter's visa, she would not need to be physically present for the process of carrying both passports as a solution.

They don't transfer visas. You carry both passports

thank you for this helpful advice. I may just go in and try to have all my documents in place and signed before hand. Worst case scenario I will make two trips.

And with showing a picture of an Extension of Stay the discssion is clear. There is a BIG difference between a Visa and an Extension of Stay. We can not see the passport, so correct terminoligy or picture of passport is important.
@Brian ******
You have an Extension of Stay as mentioned in the second line of the stamp top left right page. To show one of the small differences in a Visa (Sticker in your passport) and Extension of Stay (stamp in your passport):

I transferred a 1 year extension ED visa for my 2 daughters (11 years and 9 years) at Chaengwattana and they (my daughters) were present that day. The thing is that have to sign on each photocopy included in the files...

So I am not saying “they have to” .. just saying that they have been asked to sign.

not to be argumentative, but they transferred my visa and my wife's education visa this year. When We asked the immigration officers if we should transfer or carry two passports they were very quick to tell us to come in and have the visa moved to the new passport. This involves them adding a stamp to your new passport that takes the place of your visa in your old passport.

Technically they transfer the entry stamp, not the visa. Depending on the border you leave at you may be able to just carry two passports, the airports I believe are quite relaxed about this, but there are reports of land borders wanting the stamp transferred before they will let you leave.

Brian Glunt they don't and have never transferred Visas. They transfer entry stamps and extensions but they NEVER transfer a visa apart from the Thailand Elite visa and possibly the O-X which is valid for 5 years.

They do transfer them. My wife and I transferred ours this past July when we renewed our passports.
