What are the steps to transfer a visa from an old passport to a new one in Thailand, and how does it affect the TM30 reporting?

New Passport + Visa Transfer Questions

1 - Has anyone done this recently? VFS said they don't give visa transfer letters anymore. I'm assuming I just turn up with both passports, copies and relevant form at CW?

2 - Also, a more technical question. My non-b extension of stay is due for renewal in June. Can I do both at the same time at the same desk at CW? I remember several years ago going to a different desk for visa transfer - can they do renewals and transfer at the same desk - or is it 2 different queue numbers.

3 - TM30 - does it automatically transfer from old to new passport? Or does my landlord have to file a new one for the new passport?

Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the process of transferring their visa to a new passport and renewing their non-b extension of stay at Chaeng Wattana (CW). They have questions about whether they can handle both transactions at the same desk, and how the TM30 reporting works with the new passport. Based on community responses, it's recommended to bring both passports, necessary forms, and copies to CW for the visa transfer. The renewal and transfer can usually be done at the same desk, but it’s advisable to confirm the specific procedures there. Additionally, the TM30 needs to be updated by the landlord for the new passport.

Q. I'm assuming I just turn up with both passports, copies and relevant form at CW?

-> Bring both passports, fill out the forms, and make the necessary copies to apply.

Maybe not required, but bring the receipt of the new passport issuance.

2 - Can I do both at the same time at the same desk at CW?

-> You can wait until the earliest of your next 90-day report or 1-year extension application. Go to the counter that you apply for your extension at CW.

3 - TM30 - does it automatically transfer from old to new passport? Or does my landlord have to file a new one for the new passport?

-> You ask your landlord to do with your new passport again.

thanks Ellie. Is it possible to appoint a 3rd party to go for me? Or do I have to be present? For the visa transfer

thanks. I looked at booking an appointment online but I don't see an option for transferting visa - is it not possible to book the queue online for this service?

, in Bangkok, they don’t provide online booking for transferring stamps. You walk in and go to the counter that issued your extension.
