I’ve lost my passport while on a visit back to the UK, I’ve now cancelled the old and have a new one on the way, how do I transfer my DTV to my new passport ? Is this possible ?
Answer summary
The general consensus among community members is that a DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) cannot be transferred to a new passport once it has been issued. Although the Thai immigration system has records linking previous passport entries to personal data, it is advised that travelers carry printed copies of their old passport along with the new passport when re-entering Thailand. Those who have faced this issue recommend presenting all relevant documents, including the visa printout and a copy of the old passport, at immigration to help facilitate entry. While some believe that immigration can verify past entries, others caution that it may still be wise to apply for a new visa if in doubt.

a VISA can NOT be transferred to a NEW passport.
Not now, not in the past not in the future.
IF you entered Thailand USING this visa and a passport, lots of your personal data is saved in the Thai Immigration Database, like fingerprints, dob, nationality, facial recognition, gender, where you entered Thailand and the VISA or no visa used together with some more details.
IF you apply for a new passport IN THAILAND you need to visit Immigration to get a NEW entry stamp in your NEW passport. You might get an extra stamp with your visa details.
IF you apply OUTSIDE Thailand for a new passport, you do as you always do
Show your passport, show your printed out DTV, show your TDAC.
Check when the passport is returned if the stamp is according the visa, 180 days.
So I have all copies of my old passport and even the last page with my last DTV entry sticker in, I’ve had an email from the embassy telling me they can’t transfer to new passport so just want to know if anyone has actually had this problem themselves and have been successful with reentering with the new passport ?
Honestly, I wouldn’t trust 100% that you’ll be able to enter the country. I went through the same situation, and the embassy told me to apply for a new visa, so that’s what I had to do.
Try using a fast track service. At least then you can explain to the person helping you at immigration that your visa is linked to your old passport. Send them the photos and they’ll probably know whether they can get you into the country with the DTV stamp or not. I think that’s the safest option.
you should be fine, keep all the necessary documents to prove you got the new passport, i am sure you must have a photocopy of the old one also.....Immigration people are not stupid that they dont understand this situation, they can match/retrive your old passport from the system and match your fingerprint and picture and update the system.......
DTV_Begpacker who is going to have the new passport number in their system when it hasn't even been issued yet? In my opinion the OP is on pretty shaky ground unless he's got photos of his old passport to hand over to the IO along with his DTV print out and new passport upon entry.
