TLDR : Answer Summary
A user queried about returning to Thailand from Laos amid lockdowns. Responses indicated that border crossings are generally closed, but there might be some possibilities through the Mukdahan border if one obtains a Certificate of Entry (COE), has confirmed ASQ arrangements, a health check, and health insurance. Specific entry requirements and costs were discussed, including the need for direct transport to ASQ locations and the potential high expenses involved.

Damn you’ve been stuck in Laos doing a visa run when they closed the borders? There was never any flights from Laos to Bkk?

you're completely right Richard, it's not that bad here, so me saying I have been stuck here is more of a figure of speech, than the truth, I could have gotten out of here a long time ago if I had made the effort, but I never thought the borders would be closed for so long, then again I can't complain, Laos can be fun, a lot more free here than Thailand, less restrictions in general with or without Covid, I just feel it's time to get back now

Drug runners are doing it all the time, from what I read in the news.

I’m about to go over in a month or so some friends of mine went over the past month via border crossings at Mukdahan (sp)....They had to get COE, 14 Day Quarantine ASQ....Under a Tourist Visa (TR)
****
My guess is once you have a slot at ASQ and paid for they’ll provide a service to get you there....Let’s just say it’s $150/night for 14 nights they’ll get you there

work with the Thai embassy in VTE, I’m going to call them tomorrow and get exact details. I know there’s a way since my friend is there now....Give me a minute or give the Thai embassy a call, sorry that’s all I have for now, there’s a way, been here over a year myself and time for a change of scene

I've read a post from a guy who came via landborder but that was in august or September. I'm sure it is possible, back then the guy har to pay an ambulance to drive him from the border directly to the asq in bangkok. Try ask at the Embassy in Vientiane or savannakhet

You can enter Thailand over a land border from Laos if you have a COE, confirmed ASQ and approved transport to the ASQ, plus the Covid test results, insurance and fit to travel document. My Lao wife a British son returned from Laos to Thailand in August.

Get a visa, COE, fly in and do your prison sentence in ASQ
Benjamin ******
To my knowledge, there is no way to enter Thailand from Laos. The land borders are closed.

*IF* (BIG IF) flights are running, you may be able to catch a flight from Savannakhet or Vientiane, to BKK, assuming you get permission to enter from the Thai government.

I recommend contacting the Thai Consulate in Vientiane and asking them.
