What are the current visa application procedures at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane considering the 14-day isolation requirement in Laos?

Did anyone go to Thai Embassy in Vientiane to get a visa recently? Yesterday I made an appointment online, and today I found that Laos requires 14 days of self isolation measures for those who come from the countries where covid-19 cases have been found. Does that mean I must stay at a hotel for 14 days, and after that I go to the embassy to apply for the visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the process of obtaining a Thai visa at the embassy in Vientiane amid new COVID-19 isolation regulations requiring 14 days of self-isolation for travelers from affected countries. The responses provided insights into the situation, mentioning that while travelers may need to isolate, they can still apply for a visa at the consulate as normal, despite border closures and health declarations being necessary.

Okay
@Ja**
, AND everyone else. Lao closed 10 land borders with VIETNAM and 3 land borders with thailand. FWIW: the borders they closed I doubt people could find on a map (meaning they were small insignificant border crossings). They also closed Savannakhet Airport, <- but seeing as people can't buy visa on arrivals from that airport anymore hardly anyone can fly in there.

The Nong Khai - Vientiane border AND the Mukdahan - Savannakhet border are both open.

I apologize for the , ‘I heard’ comment, and realize now it just creates rumours.

People entering Lao from thailand are signing health declarations AND having their passports looked at to show they didn't come from a covid-19 hop spot. You will be able to apply at the consulate like normal

Ah, OK. I hadn't think about going back to Japan for a while because the ticket is much expensive, but yes, that is another option. Thank you!!

Right okay, well here in Australia you can self isolate in a hotel, might be different there and then there so many different little things with it. But maybe look up on you’re home countries government site for travel too.

Thank you for the comment. I’m worried about the 14 days of self isolation measures after I arrive in Laos. I’m going to look for other solutions.

It sounds that way.

Oh, I’ve just realized that I won’t be able to enter any hotels, as they are public buildings 😵
