What banks in Chiangmai can foreigners use to open an account for a Non-O visa without a 4-month freeze?
I am back in Thailand (Chiangmai area) with a 3 month Non O visa. I need to open a Thai bank account to put money in for the visa for 2 months so I can extend to 1 year. Because of recent fraud and scammers Bangkok Bank requires US Embassy letter with proof of Thai residence but the US embassy will not issue such a letter. Also, Bangkok Bank requires the money to sit in the account for 4 months (not 2 months) before issuing a bank guarantee letter for immigration. I don’t have four months. Even with one month extension it is not enough time. Is anyone aware of another bank / branch in Chiangmai that will let you open a bank account using a Thai Immigration Certificate of Residence (TM.16) and will issue a bank guarantee letter after 2 months?
