Can I switch banks for my visa extension transfers in Thailand, or must I use the same account for 12 months?

I am sending monthly transfers for my visa extension. I am using Wise to send them to my Bangkok Bank account. I just opened a Kasikorn Bank account because the transfers are quicker. Has anyone switched banks for transfers for the process of renewing visa extension or do I need to use the same account for 12 months? Of course, I would need statements and letter from both banks if this is a possibility. Please only comment if you have direct experience. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around changing bank accounts for monthly transfers while renewing a visa extension in Thailand. Multiple users shared experiences, highlighting that, while it is possible to switch banks and provide statements from both, the requirements may vary by immigration office. Some report success with transfers from Kasikorn Bank being faster than Bangkok Bank. A key point reiterated was that immigration may accept multiple accounts, but it is crucial to confirm with local officials, as each may have discretion over additional paperwork needed.

I have but not for dtv over the years done it a couple time for my self with marriage visa and for my mom on a retirement visa (moved provicne a few times over the last 15 years). When swapping banks we needed officel statements of both banks showing that the sum amount across accounts was never under the min balance needed. The immigration even directly told us your money can be be across many accounts but just your paper work burden goes up.

If you plan to just swap one time well it will be a 1 off extra papers.

Last time I did this was 2 years ago. So things do chance allways worth just calling up immigration or visiting your local immigration office to confirm that they won't have any issues

(dont forget each immigration officer/office has discretion to reqest extra papers or to cuase you grief they dont normally do in my 15 years happened twice. but worth crossing your ts and dotting your i if you just want to be sure )

Best of luck

I've kept to Kasikorn since I started the 65K but I did transfer the 800K from the Bangkok Bank to Kasikorn. I've done both just as a double safe bet. So when I go to immigration I will show them both statements of transfer. No need to do both that's just me.

I am thinking of moving to Kasikorn from Bkk bank soon too and use the monthly 65k method, so I am interested to know the answer, but I think Graham Seal's answer is the best advice. I was thinking i will switch at the time I renew my visa, I would start the process, instead of midway through the year, if that makes sense?

You should first ask your Immigration Office if they will accept split transfers to make up the 12 months.

It's appalling how many people are posting things here that have absolutely nothing to do with the OP's question.

Depends on your immigration office.

Go ask there.

In Khon Kaen they are easy.

They accept multiple transfers per month. They told me that in the end it simply has to be 65,000 per month.

Other Immigration Offices require, in addition to a yearly bank statement, a pension confirmation from the embassy of your country.

Exactly same situation as yourself.

Next extension is due June, I will have 4 months of statements/transfers from bkk bank and 8 months from Kasikorn.

So like yourself, interested to see if it is acceptable to immigration.

Maybe someone else has already done this, and will understand your question before answering 🤔

I am using Wise with payment method Trustly. From my Swedish bank to Bangkok Bank it could take up to 24 hours to get the money. When I changed to Kasikorn Bank it is done within a few seconds. Kasikorn Bank is the hub for many international transfers so even if Your account is at Bangkok Bank the money will initially come Kasikorn Bank.

BKK now a nightmare.

Changed to Krungsri which is an excellent bank.

First Visa renewal this year using Mthly deposit so will see how good. Definitely a better bank than BKK.

I use Bangkok Bank. The transfers are overnight, and correctly marked as FTT. I've never had a problem.

You have to use the same account in your name only.
