TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discussion reflects a general consensus that opening a bank account in Thailand with a DTV visa is highly challenging, with many personal experiences shared suggesting it is often unsuccessful. Some users indicated that they have tried numerous banks, often being denied, and reported that those who managed to open accounts faced subsequent complications like account closures. Alternatives such as TrueMoney and using international bank accounts (like Schwab or Chase) for transactions are suggested, though TrueMoney also has its drawbacks.
I’ve went into many banks to open an account with the DTV. Always denied. The people who were successful unfortunately have gotten their accounts frozen and or closed
not true. Plenty of DTV holders still have their bank accounts, including me. It just depends when you opened the account and which visa you were on when you opened it. Not saying that the account won't eventually be closed down, but I'm just pointing out that plenty of DTV holders still have their accounts.
all business accounts work with Moreta and as of 2 weeks ago they rolled out personal accounts as well. I think every Moreta user now can pay everywhere with QR
You can do that via a reputable agent but it depends on the agent's connections and noone will guarantee how long before the next clamp down.. it's too much of a risk so unless absolutely necessary just keep using wise revolut or whatever you guys use
I've come to the conclusion you can't. Multiple mentions of TrueMoney are correct. Just need a passport and a TH phone number. Once setup, walk into 7-11, add upto 3000thb and spend with a code. It works in many places and more places than last year. You'll spend more time and hassle trying to get a bank account.
Seems like this is the same guy that posted just a few days ago about getting a bank account. But now is asking how to get a bank account? Seems like a big fat lie to me.
