Hi Everyone,

Advice please!

I was unable to extend my O visa extension stamp based on being father of a Thai child in January as I was not able to be back in Thailand on their date of 7th February there was also a problem with my 400k Baht seasoning.

They told me to get the visa in Berlin where I am currently. I am unable to get the visa in Berlin due to me not being A German passport holder or having residency in Germany ( I am a UK passport holder )

I obtained an O visa in 2019 from Penang I contacted the consulate this week but have received no reply.

Is it possible at Jomtien immigration for me to fly somewhere get a tourist visa and convert it into a O visa extension stamp??

I’m flying back to Thailand in 2 weeks can you advise me on my options please

Many thanks

Alan

who told you that you can't apply using the eVisa system for a 90 day Non-O visa being a brit whose in germany?

The system will allow it and I think as long as you show an address of where you're staying there and meet the requirements you should be able to get the visa issued there

I’m going to admit now that I didn’t know about the Thai e visa. I have no idea how that got passed me.

I have applied to the London consulate using UK passport and hope it goes through in time, it says since September 2021 you don’t need to go to the consulate to show your passport.

I have electronic scans of my daughters birth certificate, passport, court paper’s recognising me as father, money etc from previous visa actions and it gets me past this residency issue.

If not after Songkran I’ll try and get my visa exempt moved to a O visa extension stamp (@Jomtien I have major doubts unfortunately) and if not then hop over to Penang and try my luck there.

Thanks to all for their advice. As always top advice on this group and it’s very much appreciated

failing that you can always come in visa exempt, and go to Penang to try to get that 90 day Non-O visa there. I seem to remember they used to require a strange amount of funds for 90 day Non-O's for supporting thai children, (200K baht I think it was)

I have no stamp I travelled in on my Irish passport. It’s a EU passport so no stamp.

The in-country visa is 2 big steps process. You cannot apply for Non-O 'extension' directly on your entry stamp of tourism status (visa-exempt or Tourist visa)

1. Apply for an in-country Non-O visa based on raising a half-Thai child

You can apply for an in-county Non-O visa for 90 days stamp on your visa-exempt entry when you meet the requirements. You need funds seasoned, and 15 days or more remaining with your stamp as of the application date

2. Apply for a 1-year extension based on raising a half-Thai child

You can apply for a 1-year extension when your 90 days stamp remains 30 days or less

Go to the local immigration office immediately after entering Thailand to get their latest handout for in-country visa application and the following 1-year extension.

OR, you may go to Laos or Penang to get the initial Non-O visa based on raising a half-Thai child from the consulate there.

Honestly, I don't see the point of you getting a tourist visa if you go to the consulate for a visa application.
