Hi sorry if this is a bit of o long winded question. ,I'm a female solo traveller coming to Thailand in January for 60 days travelling from the UK. I honestly am stressing out about applying for the visa,as my IT skills are basic, and I know I wont be able to complete the visa application on my own,and have no one to help me ( ive read so many comments about how difficult it can be,even for people who are quite savvy with IT)

Ive asked Emirates if they would allow me to board without a 60 day visa with the intention of going to the immigration office in Rayong to extend my visa after 30 days and have told me I would not be able to board

My next cunning plan is to fly to Cambodia mid holiday for a few days and re-enter Thailand for my remaining 29 days

Is this a viable option, even tho it means a lot more travelling etc, but I'm really getting so anxious about the whole situation

Please be kind with your comments

Thank you
Answer summary
The original poster is a solo female traveler from the UK planning to visit Thailand for 60 days in January. She is stressed about the visa application process and has been told by Emirates that she cannot board without a visa. She is considering traveling to Cambodia mid-trip to re-enter Thailand as a way of extending her stay. However, respondents suggest simpler alternatives such as arriving with a 30 day visa exemption, followed by a 30-day extension from local immigration. They also advise booking a round-trip flight and possibly seeking help from a travel agent to alleviate stress.

You can buy an onward ticket for as little as $14. It's a temporary ticket that is cancelled after a few days, but it is genuine. Often, check-in staff don't even ask, as it depends on their experience. As it is only valid for a few days, it is best to buy it the day before you fly. Enjoy your trip. onwardticket.com

Don't stress just get 30 days on arrival and then get 30 day extension from immigration.

your making it more difficult than it is. you want to stay 60 days no problem. Buy a RT flight leaving in 30 days. Then after you get a 30 day extension call your airline and change your fight departure date. The change fee will be $75-125.

Its worth the money to be stress free.

Yo, I would STRONGLY suggest you reconsider Cambodia. There have been tensions with Thailand and you might have some difficulty. It would be better to go to Laos.

But as far as the application, it's incredibly easy. You could apply for it right now for when you come. You can always hire a travel agent I suppose? There are plenty of businesses in Thailand who help people with exactly this.

Book a flight from Thailand to Cambodia for before the 30days is up to show to the airline then just cancel it and do what you originally planned once in Thailand

The app isn’t that hard, just tedious. You can save it along the way so you can start and stop filling it in. The longest part for me was combining docs as each section only allows you to upload one doc. So have to put inbound and outbound tix on one doc, 3 mos of bank statements into one doc, etc. good luck!

You certainly are confused and Emirates were just playing safe because your question to them was confusing and to be on the safe side just gave you a inconsidered answer. For a 60 day visit and depending which country your from you could just turn up and get a VISA EXEMPT STAMP in your passport for 30 days from your arrival. About a week before that time is up go to your local immigration office and apply for a 30 day extension of that stamp which you will almost certainly get. Neither of these are visas. These are called visa exempt stamps. Alternatively you can go to the government e-visa website and apply online. Use ChatGPT to guide you and ask questions. Its a little bit confusing in certain parts but thousands of people manage to do it so you can do it too. If you feel both those methods are too daunting for you contact an agent like Thai Visa agent (Google it). They will take care of it for you at a price. Good luck. Oh just make sure you have an onwards ticket within the 60 days and a hotel booked for your first night you may be ssked for either at the arrival airport.

I dont know why emirates told you that. I often go to thailand sometimes for 60 days and i enter on a visa waiver then extend at local immigration office it costs about 1500 baht.

If your coming for 60 days you only have to go to immigration for an extension after 30 days no need to leave the country

I would suggest just opening an account on the eVisa portal and try going through the application. You don't need to submit anything while getting to know the system. No need to pay for anything until you actually submit a application. It's honestly not that hard.

You don't actually have to fly to Cambodia if you don't want to. Just buy a one way ticket to Cambodia for day 29 of your trip and show that at check-in and they'll let you fly. Then you can apply for the 30 day extension in Thailand.

Really, if you have never been to Ankor in Cambodia then you should! Book a return flight to Siem Reap before your 30 days and spend 3-4 days and fly back to Bangkok. Another option would be to fly to Penang in Malaysia. Interesting for a few days and the food capital of Malaysia. Flights are cheap if booked 1-3 months in advance.

Just buy a train/bus ticket for before the 30 days is up, to show proof of leaving, so you can board your flight ( but don't use it). Go to immigration and get extension for 30 days tacked on your 30 day exempt entry.
