I am currently on a Non O 90 day visa based on marriage and looking to apply for extension of 1 year. I have all the requirements bar 1.

The house book is used to determine a residential address.

My dilemma is that my wife and I are domiciled on a yacht and don’t have a House book as such. Does anyone have any experience or advice as to how I approach this with immigration.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking guidance on securing a one-year extension for their Non O visa, based on marriage, while residing on a yacht in Thailand. The lack of a traditional house book is complicating the process. Community members suggest that the wife's house book, likely linked to her family home, will be crucial and recommend filing a TM30 for registration. They also highlight the potential for immigration to require verification of residence through home visits and neighbor inquiries. Practical advice includes visiting the immigration office directly to discuss their unique situation.

As Ben mentioned, your wife will have a housebook from somewhere in Thailand. Probably the family home unless she owns property herself.

You will need a tm30 filed. That's for sure.

As for living on a yacht then that could cause you a problem. As you know, on your first extension, Thai immigration usually carry out a home visit. During this visit they try to talk to a neighbor and ask them about your household.

I use Phuket Immigration and they requested my wife's house book, house contract, landlords house book and housebook of the property that I was renting (that's a lot of housebooks)

As your situation is unique it may be a good idea for you and your wife to head down to Phuket immigration, explain your circumstances and see what they say. Good luck . Hope it works out smoothly for you.

you have captured my dilemma perfectly. We do intend seeking the immigrations advice but thought this was a good starting point given the vast knowledge of the group.

you will probably (almost definitely) need to speak to someone higher up the food chain in immigration in Phuket town office. Start with your wife making a phone call or send an email (in Thai) outlining your position. Phuket immigration even answer their Facebook messages. 🙏

Is the house book being mentioned the book where the wife technically resides? All Thais have a house book.

Or… is this the TM30 that should be filed? I imagine you are staying on some type of property (a dock? Pier?) and the owner should register you.

Also, what immigration office is this?

Hi Ben, the house book I refer to is the house registration and yes she has one in Sisaket while we are currently in Phuket. We are currently in a marina at least for the January. The immigration office we intend to visit is Phuket town.
