TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a certificate of residence while living on a sailboat in Thailand, it is recommended to consult your local immigration office. Many suggest having a registered address, such as renting a room or using a marina address. Additionally, questions about the TM30 form, which is required for residency, are pertinent when living on a vessel, with some community members noting difficulties in acquiring the certificate without a permanent address.

There are sea people who have lived in costal Thailand and SE Asia for centuries and don't have residency status because they don't have addresses. If you arrived in country by boat from a foreign port then the laws of the sea apply. You're basically in transit unless you've cleared customs. If the boat is Thai registered the harbor master may be a source of information.

Really that's not issue, it's how to file the tm30. I have often wondered this myself. If you can file a tm30 for boat, slip, or harbor, you shouldn't have an issue getting a resident certificate for that address in theory. Please report back when you get it figured out.

Just on the boat? Is that even allowed? Don't you have to register your address 24h after arrival... normally...? π€π
