What happens if you are in between house moves and staying in a hotel at the time when you are due to apply for a one year retirement extension to your O or OA visa.

Can you just show a TM30 from the hotel or do you need to be staying somewhere permanent and be able to show a rental contract and copy of blue book?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are applying for a one-year retirement extension on your O or OA visa while temporarily staying in a hotel, a short hotel stay alone is insufficient. You will need to provide a long-term lease agreement or proof of long-term accommodation, as a TM30 from the hotel will not satisfy the application requirements. It's essential to have a one-year rental contract to be eligible for the extension.

You cannot apply for a 1-year extension based on retirement just with a short hotel stay without a long-term lease agreement or proof of long-term guest. You need to make a "schedule" to move well.

Hi Tom , thanks for the reply, some offices don't seem to ask for it, not sure about Phuket immigration though

@Dirk *******
, you need contact the immigration office or Phuket Immigration Volunteers. Phuket Immigration Volunteers don't list those (owner's blue book copy, etc) for 1-year extension.

Phuket needs a TM30. Just done an extension there.

Take the handout from them, follow it and all ok...

( from the handout:

Prerequisite are:

Valid Non-O visa ( without overstay ) or valid extension.

>Up to date address registration.< )

, do you mean a TM30 receipt from the hotel where you stay for only a short-term (ex. a few days) stay is accepted for retirement extensions in Phuket?

@Dirk *******
to make it clear, you must have a proper address with actual TM30. That's what they want to see!
Ellie *******
Without proof of long-term accommodation, most likely your applications will be rejected (they wouldn't accept your documents).

ok thank you very much for the information.

I can organize an apartment rental contract and tm30 but there is a problem getting a copy of the blue book as the owner is away, hence my post on Phuket Expats which you replied to , where I was asking if Phuket immigration actually want to see a copy of blue book.
